Without a doubt, the most often asked question I’ve been asked since The Clone Wars started four years ago is, “How does The Clone Wars fit into the existing Expanded Universe Clone Wars timeline?” The first seasons of The Clone Wars were peculiar in that episodes didn’t air in chronological order. You would have episodes in Seasons 2 and 3 that were actually prequels to episodes in Season 1. Here are a few of my notes regarding the timeline to help sort things out.
Hello Star Wars Friends,
I’m sorry it has been so long since my last blog. When I am away from the office as long as I was for Star Wars Celebration VI, there is always a lot to catch up on when I get back. I can now say that everything is pretty much back up to speed and The Clone Wars is moving forward, bigger and better than ever.
The Clone Wars is such a big deal that there were two Season 5 preview panels, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, at Star Wars Celebration VI. I love the show, so I went to both. On Saturday attendees were treated to an amazing surprise. GEORGE LUCAS SHOWED UP! Yes, the creator himself briefly came out and talked some Clone Wars with Supervising Director Dave Filoni and VFX Supervisor Joel Aron.
Dave Filoni promised he would bring the big guns for Star Wars: The Clone Wars at Celebration VI, and he wasn’t kidding. I was thrilled when he announced the season five premiere would be screened at Celebration. I was excited to see the new episode, sure, but I also knew it would mean watching the series on the big screen. It’s the best way to experience the show. The animation looks beautiful on my television at home, but it’s just nothing compared to seeing it in huge, glorious detail. The episodes play like movies anyways; it’s perfect. And holy Ewoks, did the premiere deliver on all counts.
Good news! I’ve selected the Clone Wars season 5 clips that will be shown at Celebration VI – and I think you will be very pleased. To give you a small preview, take a look at this photo of me and Mattias (one of our editors) finalizing a scene. I had fourteen different clips pulled for consideration, but we narrowed it down to a final list. It may surprise you to know that getting these clips together is no simple task. Many come from episodes that are not yet finished, and still require sound design and final lighting shots before they are presentable. Never fear! Matthew Wood and David Accord will be working on the sound design to make sure you have the best possible experience watching these clips at Celebration.
That was fast! I usually spend several days at the con, but this year it was a 24-hour turn around. Still, I got a good look at the floor and was fortunate to meet several fans. I caught a couple of our regular clone troopers walking around in Star Trek uniforms on Saturday – even a member of my own crew!! Luckily they switched back into their imperial officer uniforms for the 501st photo.
