My diorama images grew out of a combination of my childhood love of Star Wars toys and my career as a photojournalist. So, it makes sense that my toy art is grounded in mirroring human behavior. That’s why the holiday-themed Star Wars images I’ve done for more than a decade are fun exercises in translating celebratory traditions to the framework of a galaxy far, far away.

This pair from a few years ago still gives us a giggle, although it’s hard not to feel a little sorry for our favorite little power droid (or the unfortunate trick-or-treater inside). Cut Jedi Sandstorm Scene Done With Action Figures

Artist/photographer Stephen Hayford sends us two fantastic action figure diorama photos commemorating this month’s release of the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray collection, which includes clips from several cut scenes, including the infamous Tatooine sandstorm sequence that was to follow the heroes’ escape from Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.

Hayford also sends a nod to Lucas’ penchant for never tossing out an idea that might be used later…
