Darth Vader/The Great Dictator Speech Tribute

StarWars.com Team | December 7, 2011

Every once in awhile, a dedicated fan creates a video tribute to Star Wars that makes one pause and consider the full story of Darth Vader on a deeper level. The Star Wars Saga has always been about the story of Anakin Skywalker at its core. The films and The Clone Wars animated series show exactly that — the tale of a hero who lost his way and eventually found redemption.

This fan-made video tribute shows Anakin Skywalker’s final moments as he recalls the days of The Clone Wars in the arms of his son, Luke Skywalker. The video is narrated with Charlie Chaplin’s famous speech from The Great Dictator alongside clips from The Clone Wars.

This rousing speech, which was made famous from a film released during the early ’40s that bravely condemned Adolf Hitler, fascism, and the Nazis, works all too well juxtaposed against footage of the Emperor and the destruction he caused through the manipulation of the people during The Clone Wars.

Star Wars Crossover Poster Designs

Pete Vilmur | November 29, 2010

Screenrant.com updated over the weekend with a cool set of four fan-designed Star Wars crossover posters — that is, “Star Wars-ified” versions of classic movie posters. Artist Matthew Ranzetta creates Star Wars send-ups for Empire of the Sun, The Princess Bride, and, most appropriately, Cool Hand Luke. The artist’s style is minimalistic but compelling. Head on over and check them out.

Hello R2 Kitty?

Bonnie Burton | September 29, 2010

Even though this R2-D2 as Hello Kitty is just an illustration by the talented artist Joseph Senior, we can’t help wonder if this would be the image we see when looking up the word “adorkable” in the dictionary.

Senior has also given Hello Kitty makeovers to other Star Wars characters like Darth Vader, Boba Fett, C-3PO and more!

Star Wars Meets Lost Comic

StarWars.com Team | April 13, 2010

(Art by Graham Annable)
If you’ve been watching Lost, you already know the show is saturated with Star Wars references. Remember that epic Empire Strikes BackLost episode?

Now cartoonist Graham Annable has illustrated the ultimate LostStar Wars mash-up with hilarious results.

This new line of themed drawings has the added value of foretelling an Ewok’s demise in the belly of hungry castaways. Yub-nub-licious! Furthermore, Annable demonstrates the hilarious results of character-specific pairings between folks like Sayid and Boba Fett, Benjamin Linus and Darth Vader and even Hurley and Jabba the Hutt.

Star Wars as The A-Team

Bonnie Burton | December 27, 2009

Here’s a brilliant fan-made mash-up of Star Wars characters as members of The A-Team. Not sure who’s Murdock in that line-up, but it’s awesome just the same.

Star Wars as Airwolf

Bonnie Burton | April 16, 2009

Can’t get enough Star Wars TV intro mashups? Good! Because here’s a couple more gems from the same fan who made Star Wars as Macgyver and Star Wars as Dallas.

This time around it’s Star Wars reimagined as the ’80s hit Airwolf. There’s two to choose from — one for Rebels and one for the Imperials. I have to say the theme song plus ship blueprints are spot on. Most impressive. We want more!

Star Wars as Macgyver

StarWars.com Team | April 16, 2009

From the same fan who brought us Star Wars as Dallas comes another excellent TV intro mashup. This time it’s Macgyver! Will Luke blow up the Death Star using chewing gum and a drinking straw? We may never know.

Star Wars as Dallas

After watching this fan-made Dallas-style intro of Star Wars, I’m beginning to wonder if J.R. and Darth Vader were one in the same.

The Making of “Sgt. Lucas”

StarWars.com Team | June 18, 2007

Star Wars artist Randy Martinez created a mashup homage to Star Wars and one of the most iconic bands in music history — The Beatles. He used similar collage methods to those used in the creation of the original Beatles “Sgt. Pepper” album cover that inspired the image. He recently unveiled his “Sgt. Lucas” poster at Celebration IV, to get fans excited about the next big fan party happening in London this July. Martinez’s art will be used as the Celebration Europe program cover artwork and will be sold as a poster in the Celebration Store.

To find out how he made the “Sgt. Lucas” collage poster using everything from over 300 fake flowers to image cutouts, read on.
