Lightsaber Battle on My Life As Liz Team | February 23, 2010

It’s not every day we get to see a cool fangirl have a lightsaber battle with her best friend while wearing an awesome Ackbar T-shirt.

Tune into the latest episode of MTV’s My Life As Liz, and you can see just that! Liz Lee gives us a glimpse of what life is like when you feel like a square peg at the Death Star known as high school, and a mean girl named Cori could give Darth Vader a run for his money.

We love that Liz shows off her geek cred in every episode whether it be in her fashion sense (we want to raid her T-shirt collection!) or her love for sci-fi and comics.

May the Force Be With You, Liz!

Fashion Inspired by The Clone Wars Team | February 3, 2010

We already know that Star Wars has made its mark on cool urban street wear from the likes of Marc Ecko to adidas, but this may be the first time we’ve heard of The Clone Wars being a direct inspiration for runway fashions.

Swedish fashion label Acne’s Jonny Johansson told the press that his recent show in London took direct inspiration from The Clone Wars, which he watches with his sons.

Vogue UK reports:

Acne’s Jonny Johansson cites Star Wars: The Clone Wars as the starting point for his autumn/winter 2010 collection, which showed last night in east London. That’s not to say we should all start packing a lightsaber, but rather we should be channeling the intergalactic colour palette, shape and feel of Luke Skywalker’s get-up.

“The collection was actually inspired by a cartoon my two eldest sons are obsessed with; Star Wars: Clone Wars,” Acne creative director Jonny Johansson revealed with a smile. “It’s not literal, of course, just a feeling, an inspiration — and many of the silhouettes continue from last season. But I liked the idea that movies with spacey subjects are supposed to look futuristic.”

Futuristic or not, the collection has all of Acne’s signature wearability. Shaped, buckled bondage pieces and space age styling; gold cuffs, collars and models’ metallic foreheads, were balanced by the soft draped shapes of dresses, over-sized boxy styles of suede and leather jackets and the brand’s signature fur and shearling collars.

Recently, Beckham joined Snoop Dogg and Daft Punk to promote the adidas Originals Star Wars collection:

Milo Ventimiglia Gives Fans Geektastic Battles on Ultradome Team | January 22, 2010

Fans love to debate who would win in a fight — a Jedi versus a Hobbit? Han Solo against Indiana Jones? And now they can see these battles take place in the ultimate arena — Ultradome!

Heroes star and avid Star Wars fan Milo Ventimiglia, with his production company DiViDe Pictures, bring these awesome battle match-ups and more to MSN with their new Web show Ultradome — starting Jan 25! And the first episode pits a Star Wars Jedi vs. a Lord of the Rings Hobbit — to the death!

MSN interviews Milo about this new show, how a gift of lightsabers helped spawn the idea for the show and who he’d like to see Boba Fett battle against:

What was the origin of Ultradome? How did you guys come up with this idea?

Milo Ventimiglia: Actually, it came to lightsabers. Russ, my producing partner — we got a couple of lightsabers from Lucasfilm and we made some small videos where Russ and I are battling one another with our lightsabers. I mean, totally low-fi, there’s no effects. Two big kids playing with lightsabers.

And we sat down with Agility and the idea just kind of germinated where it wasn’t just lightsaber battles but what we’re actually taking geek culture and pop culture and we’re kind of mashing that all together in a battle to the death. So once we had the initial idea, then we discussed the potential and possibility of what these battles would be and it grew into what is Ultradome now.
