Deftones Singer Chino Moreno Talks Star Wars Team | April 27, 2010

Recently, interviewed Deftones frontman Chino Moreno about his new record, as well as his cinematic influences including Star Wars. How important is Star Wars to you?

Moreno: It’s pretty…important, man. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. That movie really made me feel like there’s way bigger sh*t going on than all of this, you know? I still believe that. As a kid, that made it seem like the earth is just so small and there’s so much more out there. I got wide-eyed as a kid, and I still just love it.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. That sh*t always puts me in a good mood. My favorite scene is probably when they get to Cloud City. Darth Vader’s already there. Lando sells them out. You’re just like, “Woah! That’s…sick.”

I love how clean everything looked and the aesthetic. Everything was white. Princess Leia was all dressed up, and it showed that there’s decadence in space too [Laughs]. It’s rad. All of it is great. It’s dope when the Millennium Falcon goes through the asteroid and into the monster’s mouth!

Nathan Fillion Talks Lightsabers Team | April 13, 2010

(Nathan Fillion on Castle)

We already knew actor Nathan Fillion‘s character Richard Castle on the hit show Castle has Jedi Mind Trick skills, but this is the first time we’ve heard about Nathan’s own ability to wield a lightsaber.

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Nathan talked about his brief lightsaber battle with a neighbor one night after a party. We loved his Star Wars Christmas tree, but this might just seal the deal on why Nathan Fillion is one of our favorite celebrity Star Wars fans. Most impressive, Sir. Most impressive.

President Obama Buys Star Wars Pop-up Book Team | March 25, 2010

Looks like President (Jedi Master) Obama has good taste in kids books — especially those with light-up lightsabers! He was recently in Iowa and purchased Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy by Matthew Reinhart.

Yahoo News reports:

After mentioning an Iowa City bookstore in his health care speech Thursday, President Barack Obama stuck his head in and spent $37 on kids’ books.

The president bought two books for his daughters, 11-year-old Malia and 8-year-old Sasha. He also paid for a “Star Wars” pop-up book for the 6-year-old son of White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

We asked Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy author Matthew Reinhart about the President’s recent book purchase and he told us:

What can I say? He’s got taste! Seriously, its a tremendous honor & delight for this humble pop-up book maker. Just goes to show you how universal Star Wars really is!

Star Wars Shout-Out by Lady Gaga Team | March 12, 2010

We had a feeling Lady Gaga had some geek mixed with the glitter in her veins, and now thanks to her new music video with Beyonce, it’s pretty clear that she digs Star Wars. In fact, that’s a pretty obscure Boba Fett shout-out in the deadly Cook ‘n Kill recipe in her music video, “Telephone.” reports:

Who knew Gaga was such a geek? Her poisonous Cook n’ Kill recipe gives nods to Dune (Meta-Cyanide), Star Wars (Fex-M3), and Command and Conquer (Tiberium).

According to Wookieepedia:

FEX-M3 was a nerve toxin used extensively by bounty hunters and members of the Assassin’s Guild. Usually delivered as the coating on a poison dart, this toxin could kill a target silently in less than 10 seconds, by causing the brain to release its stored energy, thus boiling the target’s brain. Boba Fett used darts laced with this substance on his knee pad dart launchers. The Imperial military used it with the CSPL-12 projectile launcher. This toxin was used as late as 40 ABY by riot control GAG officers during the Second Galactic Civil War.

Lightsaber Graduation on My Life As Liz Team | March 9, 2010

With all the Star Wars love on MTV’s hit show My Life As Liz, we’re tempted to refer to its star as Jedi Master Liz from here on out!

We’ve already seen Liz Lee in a lightsaber battle with her BFF Sully, and then she picked up a lightsaber again as she chatted about the awkwardness regarding her feelings for Bryson.

So when we saw that her high school’s senior prank right before graduation was a lightsaber flashmob, we were thrilled. In fact, Liz leads the nerds of Burleson High in a Jedi Knight battle and wins!

Not only did the students show off their best lightsaber (and Force choke) moves, they took their lightsabers to the graduation ceremony and waved them in the air at the end.

A Little Jedi Therapy on My Life As Liz Team | March 2, 2010

Our favorite MTV Jedi — Liz Lee — is back with another awesome episode of My Life As Liz! This time in her opening monologue she ponders the awkwardness that was the Luke-Leia sibling kiss, how that applies to her current weirdness with her feelings for Bryson who rejected her prom date offer.

Liz also mentions how “A little Jedi therapy goes a long way” — as in the lightsaber battle with her best friend Sully. We couldn’t agree more! By the way, did we mention how impressed we are with the lightsaber moves? Most impressive indeed!
