Vote for the Next Star Wars Action Figure

StarWars.com Team | October 21, 2011

Take part in the official Hasbro Fans’ Choice poll to decide which Star Wars character will go into production next!

Star Wars Insider magazine and Hasbro have joined forces to give Star Wars fans the chance to vote for a Star Wars character to be made into an action figure! The figure will be included in Hasbro’s Star Wars action figure line in 2013, in time for the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi.

There are twenty Star Wars characters in the running. The winning character will be announced at Hasbro’s 2012 Collector-Fan Media Day event at Toy Fair in New York in February 2012.

“Everybody loves collecting Star Wars and this is a rare chance to vote for a character to be made into an action figure, says Jonathan Wilkins, Star Wars Insider editor. “There are some really diverse characters to choose from; from the movies to the Expanded Universe; from the dreaded Emperor Palpatine to the cute Princess Kneesa. We want as many fans as possible to get involved! Who will you choose? You can read more about the history of the fan poll in the latest issue of Star Wars Insider, out now! Get voting!”

The toy that makes it into production will be decided by this poll alone, so this really is your chance to stake a claim for the toy you’d like to own most.

To place your vote, visit the Star Wars Insider magazine website.

More Lightsaber Chopsticks Coming Soon From Koto

Pete Vilmur | February 19, 2010

One Toy Fair booth that wasn’t shy about showing its Star Wars spirit was Kotobukiya, who devoted an entire wall to their line of Star Wars chopsticks. While casual passersby might be dazzled by Koto’s Star Wars utensil utopia, those few of us savvy enough to inspect their display cases off to the side discovered the next three entries in the lightsaber chopsticks line — Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker (Episode VI), and Darth Maul. Maul’s have the added feature of attaching together at the hilts like the Sith Lord’s movie version. These look to be available this summer. Check the pics after the jump for details!

C-3PO plush backpack

Comic Images had a lot of nifty new plushes to show off at Toy Fair this year, including two backpacks that, in retrospect, seem like no-brainers: a C-3PO in pieces (as he was carried around by Chewbacca in Empire) and a Boba Fett rocket pack. We just know there’s got to be a Yoda in Dagobah pack somewhere on the horizon!

There’s some great new plush figures as well, including a stormtrooper (with limited 501st and pink charity editions) and large-scale Vader, Chewbacca, and Yoda. Check out our full set of images here!

Cool LEGO Toy Fair Swag

Pete Vilmur | February 16, 2010

While I was dazzled with the great new entries to the LEGO Star Wars line I previewed at their Toy Fair booth today, the biggest take-away for me — literally — was a slick promotional book and exclusive white Boba Fett LEGO mini-fig!

The book, which features a die-cut spot-varnish Vader cover, contains LEGO’s current and coming releases for 2010, presented on heavy gloss cardstock pages. The binding is so tight that to photograph them I had to stick my fingers in the photos (apologies!).

Another exclusive, although I wasn’t clear that it’s limited to Toy Fair, is the white Boba Fett mini fig, appearing as the bounty hunter did before designers decided to give him the bang-up Empire deco we’re familiar with. A great pair of items that is sure to have the LEGO Star Wars collectors calling their Toy Fair contacts!

LEGO Clone Turbo Tank and More at Toy Fair

Pete Vilmur | February 16, 2010

The LEGO booth at Toy Fair had some great upcoming releases on display, including the Clone Turbo Tank, Hoth Wampa Set, Plo Koon’s Starfighter and more. Many current releases were also showcased, all of which you can see in our StarWarsShop announcement here. We’ve got a couple press photos and a few snapshots from the LEGO booth, which promises some great additions to the LEGO Star Wars series this year! Look for most of these new sets this August.

Hasbro Comic Two-Packs for 2010

StarWars.com Team | February 16, 2010

Before heading back to the Toy Fair floor today, we wanted to share a couple upcoming releases that were attached to the tail-end of Hasbro’s Star Wars presentation last weekend, but weren’t on display in their showroom (at least we don’t think they were — we’ll have to check our photos).

As a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive this year, the Darth Maul and Owen Lars Comic 2-Pack will be available with a reprint of a Star Wars: Visionaries comic. These will also be available through Hasbro’s site and StarWarsShop.com.

For Celebration V in August, a second comic 2-pack including Camie and Fixer from the Star Wars: Empire comic (and the cut Tatooine scenes from A New Hope) will be available, also through Hasbro and StarWarsShop. Could a womp rat be far behind?

New Hasbro Action Figure Cards Preview

Pete Vilmur | February 16, 2010

While we were able to showcase one of Hasbro’s new action figure cardback mock-ups last month in our “2010 Star Wars Packaging Revealed” story, Hasbro did share two new mock-ups for both their Clone Wars and Saga Legends series in their Toy Fair presentation. These don’t include the lower “footer” graphic that will include the figure’s name and other info, but they do give a sense of how uniform the two series will look.

New Star Wars Puzzles from Cardinal for 2010

Pete Vilmur | February 16, 2010

New Star Wars licensee Cardinal had their Star Wars line on display at Toy Fair, including some cool new “3 in 1 Panoramic Puzzles” which feature a Star Wars character version, a trio of clones, and the stunning Tsuneo Sanda character montage artwork. There’s also several lenticular puzzles in the mix as well. Look for these later this year, and for now, check out our image series at Flickr.

Funko’s 2010 Star Wars Collection

Pete Vilmur | February 15, 2010

Two unexpected surprises to emerge from Toy Fair this week were a pair of new entries from Funko — first, a new set of Star Wars Monster Mash-Ups bobble heads, which give our favorite Star Wars denizens a lighthearted macabre spin, and second, a great new set of Star Wars character lamps which take full advantage of the houseware’s form.

Not only are Star Wars-themed lamps a welcome addition to many-a-Star-Wars-fan’s home decor, but these also include an alarm clock and the ability to play MP3 players in the base! We can only hope to see more entries released from these great new lines from Funko!

Also coming soon are Star Wars headphones, which according to Funko’s catalog will include Darth Vader, Stormtrooper (two versions), X-wing, and C-3PO versions; and cool Star Wars figural retractable earbuds in the form of Vader, Stormtrooper, and Yoda. Of course, fans can also look forward to Funko’s Star Wars stock-in-trade, more bobble heads!

Check our image set for more photos from Funko’s booth at Toy Fair, as well as our full collection of imagery from the event.

Uncle Milton’s 2010 Star Wars Line at Toy Fair

Pete Vilmur | February 15, 2010

Uncle Milton brought no shortage of cool new Star Wars-related toys to Toy Fair, including the Remote Controlled Lightsaber Room Light, which mounts to your wall and features over seven color effects; the Holographic Animation Lab, which allows junior animators to use pre-printed or original drawings to generate an animation effect much like the Victorian-era praxinoscope; the Mini Lightsaber Tech Lab, which allows builders to construct a mini version of the weapon of a Jedi Knight, with four “crystals” to determine blade color as well as other optics; the Death Star Planetarium, which projects our own Milky Way galaxy on the ceiling or a map of the Star Wars galaxy; a Clone Trooper Recon Kit, or bug collector, which includes a viewer, soil sifter, magnifier, and more; and the Geonosis and Felucia Clone Wars Ant Farms, themed to those to planet locales.

Check out the full set of images at Flickr, and note the final packaging this fall will reflect the new blue “clone and sky” look, not the red deco shown in the photos. Be sure to check out our entire Toy Fair image series here.
