Last night on The Daily Show, show host Jon Stewart did his share to talk about Black Friday by rubbing it in our faces that he beat out holiday shoppers to a C-3PO bobblehead.
He’s also a tad worried about the recession, now that he claims to have bought a lifesize Millennium Falcon made of LEGOs.

Not every fan can say they have a stained glass window taken from the design of a drawing they did of Darth Vader when they were a kid. Paul Souders has such bragging rights. Here’s the backstory of the Stained Glass Darth Vader and how it came to be.
What’s the story behind the stained glass design?
In 1977, my family was living in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where my father (a geologist) was working on a long-term project. His colleague Jim was visiting from the Big City (Lincoln) and took the family to see Star Wars at what was probably the only movie theater in town. Scottsbluff is pretty remote — we got all our movies a month or so after the rest of the country. Anyway, Jim was a big SW fan, had read the Lucas novel, and seen it probably a dozen times already. He was an excellent interlocutor — I was 6 years old and my brother was 4, so a lot of the movie might have sailed over our heads if he hadn’t been on hand to translate. For about five years Jim was like my favorite grown-up.

When you’re at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s nearly impossible to walk more than a few feet and not run into a fan in costume. Every year the convention center is flooded with various versions of superheroes, video game characters, horror film icons, pirates, steampunk kids, vampires, werewolves, manga and anime favorites, food mascots and of course lots and lots of Star Wars characters. Even though it seemed the Joker costumes dominated the con, the 501st and Rebel Legion were out in full force, as were fans dressed as Yoda, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Jedi and even a couple of TIE Fighters.
Here’s a recap of some of the best costumes we spotted.
Clones! Clones! Clones!
With the highly-anticipated movie and TV show — The Clone Wars — on everyone’s minds, it was the 501st Legion members dressed as clone troopers and stormtroopers who dominated all the photo ops at the Star Wars Pavillion this year. There’s really no way to outdo the 501st when it comes to their impressive body armor and always-in-character demeanor. Nothing beats seeing a kid’s eyes light up when he sees a trooper walking towards him. It just wouldn’t be a proper Comic-Con experience without them. Rebel pilots
In addition to the 501st, there’s the Rebel Legion. These guys and gals dress as Jedi, Rebel Pilots, Princesses and even Wookiees, and show up to conventions, charity events and more, much like the 501st. If you’d like to find out more about them, visit the Official Rebel Legion site here.
Ahsoka Tano and Stormtrooper
Thanks to The Clone Wars, little girls everywhere get a new character to dress as for conventions and Halloween. Meet the latest sassy female to hit Star Wars — Ahsoka Tano.

There’s more than one way to build a clone army! The lucky kids at Gizmodo blog take a tour of the LEGO factory in Denmark.
Check out this video about how the iconic mini-figure gets its characteristic evil look after getting out of the mold machine. The printing of these mini-figs is one of the most expensive and delicate processes at the Lego factory. The rubber stamping has to be done in a very precise way – printing feature by feature in layers – until it’s done.

I love LEGOs and I think minifigs are about the cutest things since puppies, only plastic. The Death Star is pure genius — a sphere of power that can blow up planets!? Heck yeah! The only thing that would make this even better is to combine all three into a one glorious playset where you make the magic happen!

It’s just like the Barbie Dream House only eviler and not pink! Reenact your favorite Star Wars scenes of Luke and Darth dueling or Luke and his sis swinging to escape stormtroopers. Or skip canon altogether and make your own Star Wars stories.
Make a tiny Twister mat and have C-3PO challenge Chewie to the ultimate game of wits and limbs! Or buy those little dollhouse tea sets and have a civilized meeting between Princess Leia and Darth Vader. Or throw a dance party with the driods vs. the humans. Two words: Stormtrooper Limbo! Yup, first thing I’m doing is redecorating my Death Star with little couches and a Starburst wall clock!

Every year mad scientists, robot builders, power tool drag racers, craftsters, and other DIY guys and gals gather together at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds for one of the coolest events in the Bay Area — the Maker Faire!
This year there were plenty of fun things for Star Wars fans to see and do — including crafts, R2-D2 dancing, prop displays, the LEGO Jeep, Steampunk contraptions and more!

Maker Faire is a two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates the Do-It-Yourself mindset. Maker Faire happens May 3 and 4 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds in California. It’s a fun event for creative people of all ages who love to tinker and make things.
Whether it’s playing with robots (and there’s a lot of them!), checking out huge fire-breathing contraptions from Survival Research Laboratories, gawking at Tesla Coils, drag racing power tools, making all kinds of crafts, or just having fun geeking out, there’s plenty for everyone to do.

After Brett Rector left the stage. Steve Sansweet turned to the subject of The Man with the Hat– Indiana Jones and his return to adventure this year. First, Sansweet reminded audiences about the final installment of The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones coming to DVD on April 29th. He then screened the trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (in theaters May 22) as well as the trailer for the LEGO Indiana Jones video game before turning the subject back to Star Wars… From a certain point of view.
