This week, we announced our Her Universe plans for Celebration VI. One of the events I’m most excited about is our Her Universe photo shoot! Girls have been telling me for the past two years that they want to be a Her Universe model. Well I agree, and I’m so excited to finally be able to get everyone together for a professional photo shoot! Fangirls come in all ages, shapes and sizes and I want to represent our Her Universe brand with real fans. Professional photographer Preston Mack, who shot my Ahsoka Tano cosplay photos seen here in this CNN Geek Out! article, has graciously offered his time and talents to come to Celebration VI and take photos all day on Saturday August 25th from 10 AM- 7PM in room W305A. This photo shoot is FREE of charge and all of the photos will be posted on Facebook on a special Her Universe photo board for girls to tag and share their photos with friends and family! There will be a sign-up sheet posted right outside of room W305A starting at 10 AM for girls to come and sign up for a shoot time at some point during the day and it’s first come, first served. Please come in your favorite Star Wars by Her Universe shirt, jewelry piece, bag or hat and if you don’t have a Her Universe item, we will have something you can slip on just for the shoot! All ages are encouraged to attend and if you would feel more comfortable shooting as a duo to trio, that’s fine too! Maybe a Mother and daughter shot or three best of friends…we just want girls to come and show off their Star Wars fandom, have fun, strike a pose and Flaunt Your World!!!
May The Force Be With You!

A long time ago on a freeway far, far away . . . . I was driving home after teaching some kindergarten students how to make an origami penguin when it occurred to me that a penguin and a B-Wing starfighter are very similar. In my head, I figured out how to rework the penguin into my first original Star Wars origami model. At the encouragement of friends, and after lots of trial and error—mostly error—I created an impressive number of original Star Wars origami models.

Now where was I? Ah yes, ticking down the list of panels I’ll be hosting at the Behind the Scenes stage at Celebration VI. Day One’s been chronicled (and updated, following a scheduling switch), so let’s move onto the Friday at Celebration. Since there appear to be no rules against playing favorites, I will do so. I mean it when I say every panel is worth seeing, but there’s a couple on Friday that I want to give extra attention to: Willow and Brian Daley.

Here’s my confession, and my no longer secret shame: I am a niche geek, a jack of very few trades.
I love Comic-Con because there are about a billion things to see, and because even though it gets insanely crowded, the jammed-up throng is nearly always remarkably cheerful and patient about being stuck somewhere while someone takes pictures or gawks at rare graphic novels or stops to buttonhole an author, artist or fellow fan. Comic-Con is a collection of crazy enthusiast tribes, whose members rub elbows (quite literally) with good humor.

Where’s the checklist? Do we have the patches, t-shirts, geek shirts, fedora, 501st badges, books, signage for The Peter Mayhew Foundation…..jeans or shorts, did we find Katy’s airbrushes…how’s the cat, the dog?? Is everything in order for Shoot A Trooper? Are you taking the wheelchair? Of course, too much walking otherwise…gotta pamper those knees…gotta wheelchair monkey…yes, Brad will do….oh my gosh!! It’s almost here!! Is Kenny Baker really going to be there? Yes!! And wooohooo!! It’s time for Celebration VI!! It’s a family reunion of the galaxy far far away! And from all corners of the globe! Welcome! We are so excited to be in the autograph area at Celebration and will be stopping by our Shoot A Trooper event every day as well. Stop by and Shoot A Trooper for Charity!

Me on stage at Celebration II with Temuera Morrison. Father & Son!
I attended my first Celebration in May of 2002, Celebration II in Indianapolis, IN (that was actually the first event of that type I ever attended). I had a blast! The attendees were all so enthusiastic about Star Wars and were very friendly to me. What a place to be… all Star Wars: fun activities and panels, people in amazing costumes, great merchandise to see. From that moment, I was hooked.

I’m Kristen Hidalgo, and I’m planning the activities for the Family Room at Celebration VI. This is my second time doing it and I’m really excited about it. Celebration V was a blast and we have even more planned for this year.
My idea for the Family Room is pretty simple–I want Celebration VI to be as much fun for kids as it is for adults. I want there to be so many cool things to do that kids will want to come back every day.
