Field Report from Toy Fair: LEGO Clone Wars

February 20, 2008

A pair of Bodyguard Magna-Droids from The Clone Wars collection.

In addition to posting images of some of the new products coming from LEGO’s Toy Fair reveal last Friday, we’ve got StarWarsShop’s Matt Martin on the floor to send back images from the LEGO booth itself.

The new line based on The Clone Wars is looking better than ever, and these pictures bring a nice sense of scale and detail to the kits that’s not always apparent in the press kit imagery. Make sure to check out all the images after the jump!

Report from Toy Fair Day 2:

Tuesday was a busy, busy day for me so let’s get right into this so I’m not up all night writing (starting this after midnight was probably a bad idea in the first place).

Today I spent all of my time in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the main showroom of Toy Fair. It was a pretty huge place filled with vendors in every facet of kids entertainment, from basic blocks and action figures to serious collectables to jungle gyms to “La Teenaz: the Latinas with a feel for keeping it real” (seriously). Obviously my mission was to focus on Star Wars and Indiana Jones products and I had an appointment or two every hour to help me accomplish this.

Field Report from Toy Fair: Day 1

February 19, 2008

matttoyfair2.jpg

Matt Martin, our own StarWarsShop correspondent, just sent us his first day report from New York’s Toy Fair. We’re looking forward to more reports from Matt in the coming days as he squeezes in time between meetings with various Star Wars and Indiana Jones licensees to send us the latest. Here’s his report from Day 1, Monday:

New York City. Home of giant skyscrapers, lots of taxis, the Ghostbusters and this week, American International Toy Fair! For those who are out of the loop, Toy Fair is the largest toy trade show on the western half of the globe and showcases all of the hot new products in the children’s entertainment marketplace. It’s used as a central hub for manufacturers, retailers, importers, licensors and reps from around the world. As a buyer for StarWarsShop.com good old Uncle George sent me here to scope out new products, meet all the fun people I work with on a daily basis, make new contacts in the industry and, in general, educate myself in order to make StarWarsShop a better store… and of course StarWars.com suckered me into playing reporter while I’m here.

Cycle and sidecar from Last Crusade

Indiana Jones gets the die-cast treatment for the first time ever with three new entries into Hasbro’s popular Titanium Series, which has done very well with Star Wars collectors. We’ll warn you that one of the vehicles past the jump comes from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but if you’ve seen the trailer and have a sharp eye, this news is old hat.
