Inception Inspired by Star Wars

Director Christopher Nolan recently revealed that Star Wars had a deep impact on him as a filmmaker, making films like his new mind-twisting tale Inception possible.

Nolan says about Star Wars:

“That was an entire world that didn’t exist anywhere else before. It only existed in that movie, and then your brain lived in it for a couple of hours, and it stuck with you.”

“Ever since I saw that film, whether I knew it or not, my ambition has been to give the audience that kind of experience. To create a world that they hadn’t expected before and hadn’t seen before and let them lose themselves in it. There’s a huge advantage of jumping into something original that can be anything.”

Seth Green Makes Star Wars Pancakes

StarWars.com Team | June 17, 2010

Looks like fans everywhere including our favorite geektastic newlyweds — actors Seth Green and Clare Grant — are adding a bit of the Empire to their breakfasts with the new Star Wars pancake molds from Williams-Sonoma.

After tying the knot a little more than a month ago, Seth Green and Clare Grant aren’t working on perfecting their marriage. They have bigger, tastier things to worry about – like making perfect pancakes.

“What we’ve been doing a lot of is trying to perfect – we got all of those Star Wars pancake molds from Williams-Sonoma for our wedding – so we’ve been perfecting the art of pancakes,” Grant told People at a benefit for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation on Sunday. “It’s not as easy as it sounds.”

Obi-Wan Reference on Lie To Me

StarWars.com Team | June 9, 2010

It’s clear that the Geekerati run Hollywood, and that’s a win-win situation for Star Wars fans. Directors, producers, screenwriters, show runners and actors alike are showing their love for sci-fi, especially Star Wars in the TV shows and movies they make.

So it’s become a regular thing to spot a Star Wars reference in some of our favorite TV shows.

This week, the season premiere of the TV drama Lie to Me on FOX starring Tim Roth as a human lie detector had a nice Obi-Wan reference from a student who wasn’t cool with being put on the spot.

Eli Loker: “That thing you did where you looked down and away; that’s regret.”
Andre: “Ease up on the Jedi mind tricks, okay Obi-Wan. You don’t know me.”

Deftones Singer Chino Moreno Talks Star Wars

StarWars.com Team | April 27, 2010

Recently, ARTISTdirect.com interviewed Deftones frontman Chino Moreno about his new record, as well as his cinematic influences including Star Wars.

ARTISTdirect.com: How important is Star Wars to you?

Moreno: It’s pretty…important, man. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t. That movie really made me feel like there’s way bigger sh*t going on than all of this, you know? I still believe that. As a kid, that made it seem like the earth is just so small and there’s so much more out there. I got wide-eyed as a kid, and I still just love it.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. That sh*t always puts me in a good mood. My favorite scene is probably when they get to Cloud City. Darth Vader’s already there. Lando sells them out. You’re just like, “Woah! That’s…sick.”

I love how clean everything looked and the aesthetic. Everything was white. Princess Leia was all dressed up, and it showed that there’s decadence in space too [Laughs]. It’s rad. All of it is great. It’s dope when the Millennium Falcon goes through the asteroid and into the monster’s mouth!

(Nathan Fillion on Castle)

We already knew actor Nathan Fillion’s character Richard Castle on the hit show Castle has Jedi Mind Trick skills, but this is the first time we’ve heard about Nathan’s own ability to wield a lightsaber.

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Nathan talked about his brief lightsaber battle with a neighbor one night after a party. We loved his Star Wars Christmas tree, but this might just seal the deal on why Nathan Fillion is one of our favorite celebrity Star Wars fans. Most impressive, Sir. Most impressive.
