Sumi, Quatchi and Miga are the three new mascots who will meet and greet athletes, visitors, and fans in Vancouver and Whistler for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

StarWars.com Team | November 18, 2007

A look at Buzzfeed.com — the barometer of what is hot on the net right now — finds actress Bitsie Tulloch getting a lot of attention. She’s the star of the new online video series QuarterLife. New York Magazine has an interview with her here.

I thought that name sounded familiar. She helped out on set during Episode II in Sydney, Australia, and a result, ended up as one of many crewmembers playing along with the R2-D2: Beneath the Dome mockumentary series in 2001. Bitsie played R2-D2’s girlfriend.

Brad Pitt the Stormtrooper?

StarWars.com Team | November 6, 2007

According to USA Today, actor couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt celebrated Halloween this year in Star Wars style.

Rather, Star Wars and furry animals seem to be all the rage in the Jolie-Pitt home, as evidenced by last week’s Halloween costume selections. Said Jolie: “We were Boba Fett (Maddox, 6). My littlest daughter (Shiloh, 17 months), we couldn’t figure out if she was a bunny or a monkey, so she was a ‘bunkey.’ My 2-year-old (Zahara) was a bunny, and my 3-year-old (Pax) was a monkey. I was Curious George and Daddy (Pitt) was a Stormtrooper.”

Carrie Fisher’s “30 Rock” online

StarWars.com Team | November 5, 2007

The “30 Rock” with Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher is now online on NBC.com. Here’s a synopsis:

“Rosemary’s Baby”…

When Liz (Tina Fey) meets her idol, Rosemary Howard (Guest Star Carrie Fisher), she invites her to be a guest writer on the show. However, Rosemary’s radical ideas that Liz grew up admiring are now too controversial for Liz’s NBC show. When Liz refuses to fire Rosemary, Jack (Alec Baldwin) pressures Liz, who promptly quits. Jack brings Tracy (Tracy Morgan) to a therapist to figure out why he must do the opposite that he is told. Meanwhile, after Jenna (Jane Krakowski) ruins Kenneth’s (Jack McBrayer) page jacket, Kenneth must compete in a page-off in order to keep his job. Carrie Fisher guest stars; Scott Adsit, Judah Friedlander, Lonny Ross, Katrina Bowden, John Lutz, Maulik Pancholy, Kevin Brown and Grizz Chapman also star.

Bush Hints at Cheney’s Halloween Costume

StarWars.com Team | October 31, 2007

From CNN.com:

“This morning I was with the vice president,” Bush joked. “I was asking him what costume he was planning. He said, ‘Well I’m already wearing it,’ and then he mumbled something about the dark side of the force.”

Read more here. I gotta admit; I’m impressed CNN got the style correct and didn’t capitalize “Dark Side.” It’s a pretty common mistake.

Anthony Hopkins as Ben Kenobi?

StarWars.com Team | October 30, 2007

According to MTV News, actor Anthony Hopkins recently showed his appreciation for the Star Wars saga in an interview.

“The only of those fantasy movies that I was a fan of was Star Wars,” Hopkins stated excitedly to MTV News. Sensing his enthusiasm, we mentioned to Hopkins the upcoming live-action television show, and suggested he could give creator George Lucas a call. “Maybe I could play the Alec Guinness [part],” he responded, seemingly only half-joking. “The Force be With You.”

Watch Hopkins tackle Obi-Wan.

Sweet Stormtrooper Ride!

StarWars.com Team | October 24, 2007

Apparently car designer Scott Anderson must have a soft spot for the Dark Lord of the Sith, which would explain why the latest Dodge mid-sized sedan is called Avenger Stormtrooper.

The Dodge Avenger Tuner – Stormtrooper is a sophisticated sedan designed to appeal to an adult tuner with an appreciation for technical superiority, exhilarating performance and unbridled luxury and style. The technical, yet organic nature of the Stormtrooper costumes from Star Wars inspired its execution. The Avenger Stormtrooper represents the holistic fusion of technology, racing, comfort and performance.
