I tried to blow Aaron’s mind with my idea of doing fantasy scenes, but he stopped me mid-blurt, telling me about the large number of installations they’ve already done in home theaters that feature deep space scenes full of nebula and shooting stars. One of Sony’s MMO groups apparently looked into getting one of their game’s sky graphics installed in a board room. Another client was an orthodontist redoing his basement as a tribute to Star Wars (including an X-Wing cockpit mock-up) who recreated the little table at which Chewie and C-3PO play chess. Above it? A custom window looking out into a spinning galaxy.

USA Today briefly chats with actor Harrison Ford about the start of his film career and how he thinks Han Solo and Indy differ as characters.
He gives “no credit to the culture for embracing (Han) as a hero. He’s dumb as a stump! He’s certainly got a good heart, but I think he’s certainly a much less interesting character than Indiana Jones. The breadth of his story utility was never extensive. He was the foil between the other more compelling elements of the film. There’s not breadth of character to explore beyond what we got out of him.”

If you happen to catch Antiques Roadshow last night, you may have seen collector Matt Gibson get an early Star Wars printing block appraised at $300-400!
An extremely rare piece, this particular block was used to print ads for Dolby’s new six-track stereo system, a breakthrough in theatrical sound presentation that Star Wars helped to make popular. Ads printed from this block appeared as early as December, 1976, in industry trade magazines such as Boxoffice.

Long before first-person shooters, Wii and arcade games, there was a little coin-eating game called pinball. For those of us who fancied ourselves as the next pinball wizard a new documentary about its decline in popularity (and sales) is an interesting look at a lost segment of gaming.
IGN reviews TILT: The Battle to Save Pinball which chronicles America’s largest manufacturer of pinball games — Williams — and its last ditch attempt to save the company with “Pinball 2000.” As the tale unfolds, TILT makes a mention of the role the Star Wars franchise played during the last moments of pinball.
Insider interviews with some of Williams’ designers give insight into the design process and technology behind “Pinball 2000″ as well as the classic models of the past several decades. The most interesting part comes during the final section, discussing Williams’ deal with Lucasfilm to distribute Star Wars: Episode 1 themed Pinball 2000 cabinets and how executive and creative interfere affected the quality of the final product and quite possibly the fate of the company in general.

The Banker is about to meet his match. NBC’s hit game show “Deal or No Deal” transforms itself for a special Star Wars themed “winner take all” episode on Monday, April 28 (8-10 pm ET) surprising two diehard fans of the popular movie franchise with the experience of a lifetime. Guest supporters cheering on the contestants include actress Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Chewbacca and R2-D2, and in a surprise twist, Darth Vader fills in as the villainous Banker.

Star Wars fans who have been watching Season 2 of the “Doctor Who” spinoff TV series “Torchwood” may have noticed a special reference to an old Jedi Master slip by. In the first episode of the new seasn — “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” — James Marsters joins the “Torchwood” cast as Capt. John Hart. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” fans will recognize Marsters from his role as the snarky Brit vampire Spike.
In this clip, Capt. Hart challenges “Torchwood” leader Capt. Jack Harkness in a Star Wars-like hologram message and adds a humorous “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope!” impression at the end.
