We’ve blogged before about how many Star Wars fans think President Obama is secretly a Jedi Knight. But this is the first time we’ve been handed photographic proof of Obama showing off his Force powers.
Sith Lords and bounty hunters beware!
According to Newsweek:
Here’s President Obama dueling with, yes, a Star Wars lightsaber at an event held this afternoon at the White House to promote Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics.

Wired magazine has chatted with everyone from Bill Gates to the Maker himself George Lucas, so they never shy away from intimidating interview subjects. So it shouldn’t surprise fans that they would go a step further and interview bounty hunter Cad Bane from The Clone Wars.
Wired reports:
Unless you’ve got a pile of money to throw at him, you’ll have no luck hiring Bane. And he’s no easier to get hold of for a simple interview. But Wired.com managed to do so without getting gunned down by his dual blasters. In fact, he was in a less-deadly mood than usual due to good business coming his way during the long galactic conflict.
“I don’t suffer fools easily, so I prefer to work alone. People in my line of work don’t care much for socializing. Sometimes the job demands that I work with specialists, and that’s when other folks come in handy. But make no mistake: I call the shots.”
Bane has no personal recollections of the late Jango Fett, but he confesses that the Republic’s clone armies, generated from Fett’s genetic code, have given him “no end of trouble.” He hears rumors of Fett’s son (Boba) perhaps taking up his father’s business, but he’s not concerned.
“I don’t have time to keep track of every little whelp in the galaxy,” Bane said. “I’m the best there is. If he doesn’t get into my business, I won’t get into his. I’d be happy to track him down — but it’ll cost you. I don’t work for free.”

While promoting his new film Halloween II, horror movie director and rocker Rob Zombie recently confessed to EW.com’s Popwatch that he had Star Wars collectibles as a kid.
What do you consider your geekiest possession?
I have a lot of weird crap. For some reason, I never threw anything away as a kid, and I was really meticulous about saving everything in perfect condition. So if I bought an album in 1972, it still has the shrink wrap on it and it’s still in mint condition. Even magazines. If a magazine came out in 1977 featuring Star Wars, I bought it and it looks like I bought it today. Any kind of Star Trek Mego action figures that are still in the garage somewhere — I don’t really want ‘em, I just don’t know what to do with ‘em.

Few Star Wars fans may realize that, in 1985, the Millennium Falcon underwent a few “special modifications” to fly once again in a low-budget thriller called Evils of the Night. Well, not really — it actually just appeared on the poster for the B-movie schmaltzfest, sporting a second cockpit along with a cast of strangely recognizable names: Tina Louise (that’s Ginger from Gilligan’s Island), John Carradine, and Julie Newmar (Catwoman!).
There must have been some behind the scenes jitters when it came to marketing the movie on video, since the poster artwork was changed to make the Falcon much less recognizable:
This is the second time we’ve seen the Falcon used on a B-movie poster — remember this one from our feature a couple years ago?

In the upcoming movie The Men Who Stare at Goats, Bob Wilton — a reporter (played by Ewan McGregor) thinks he has the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (played by George Clooney), a man who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army’s First Earth Battalion — a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.
Based on the non-fiction book by the same name, the movie is bound to be saturated with Jedi references if it’s anything like these quotes from the trailer:
Bob Wilton: “So what you’re saying is that you were a psychic spy?”
Lyn Cassady: “A Jedi warrior.”Lyn Cassady: “We’re Jedi. We don’t fight with guns, we fight with our minds.”
The irony that actor Ewan McGregor who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Prequels is getting schooled in the ways of the Jedi by George Clooney just makes the movie that much more entertaining. The movie also gets extra points for bringing back The Dude (Jeff Bridges) in a glorious way.

We’ve reported before about the awesome Star Wars references in the Venture Bros. animated series on Adult Swim. However, our blogger friends over at io9.com take the idea even further and ponder the idea of how much more different The Clone Wars and Venture Bros. would be if their writing staffs switched shows!
What would happen if you turned the Lucasfilm writers loose on the Venture Bros., and let the Venture staff have a crack at The Clone Wars?
The main difference between these shows, says io9 writer Graeme McMillan, is that the Venture Bros. writers are deeply bitter whereas The Clone Wars‘ writers are, at their heart, very sincere.
So maybe if the Venture Bros. writers got to take a turn writing The Clone Wars, you’d immediately have more weird pop-culture humor. But you’d also get more investigation into the bitterness that’s just under the surface of the Star Wars universe — the fact that Anakin is a jerk who’s destined to become the scourge of the galaxy.

If you’ve been watching the astronaut sci-fi drama Defying Gravity you might have noticed a quick nod to Star Wars — more specifically the Mos Eisley Cantina and what looks like IG-88’s Derwent flame tube head.
We doubt bounty hunter IG-88 will be making a cameo in the show, but at least we know space travelers venture to similar-looking pubs.

Actor Nathan Fillion is one of those actors who makes everything he touches awesome. He gave us the creeps as the evil preacher Caleb in the last epic season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. He gave Han Solo a (parsec) run for his money as one of the hottest, most sarcastic heartthrobs in the galaxy as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly and Serenity. He made us laugh as the egostical and dubious superhero Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
He won our admiration when he urged his legions of Twitter followers to vote in the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.
And now, most recently, Fillion snuck in a Star Wars reference into his new detective show Castle. Sure the writers wrote the dialog, but Fillion talking about Jedi skills is full of awesome.
Novelist Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett have a discussion about how long she dated her ex boyfriend who just so happens to be an F.B.I. agent on the current case.
Beckett: “Six months.”
Castle: “Six months, what?
Beckett: “We dated for six months.”
Castle: “I didn’t ask.”
Beckett: “Yeah, I know. You were not asking very loudly.”
Castle: “I know, I’m like a Jedi like that.”

Fans everywhere have already known about the epic Darth Vader Toaster for awhile now, but we’re still pretty thrilled that Star Wars fan and The Tonight Show host — Conan O’Brien — joked about it on his show Friday night.
O’Brien also did a weird nerd impression which seems rather ironic since it wasn’t that long ago O’Brien himself geeked out while visiting Lucasfilm and ILM. We’re on to you, O’Brien! We know you’re a fellow Star Wars geek, so don’t bother hiding it.
“Not making this up, the creators of Star Wars have invented the Darth Vader toaster that burns an image of into each piece of toast it makes. That’s true! The instructions say once it’s made users should spread the toast with their self-hate and shame.”

This week the world said goodbye to the King of Pop — legendary singer and entertainer Michael Jackson. As the world takes a look back at his long career, little to none is known about his private life with his family at his epic estate Neverland.
The New York Post takes a closer look at his life at home with his three children Prince Michael Joseph, Paris Michael, and Prince Michael II; and reveals how Jackson tried to give them all a childhood that he never had. One surprising holiday, the King of Pop introduced his children to Princess Leia herself!
According to The New York Post:
Last Christmas Eve, Jacko and his dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein arranged for Carrie Fisher to surprise the kids by reprising her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars at their rental mansion in Holmby Hills, Calif.
“Michael brought the kids down in their pajamas and said, ‘This is Princess Leia,’ ” said family friend Stephen Price. “They were so excited! She did her famous speech for them — the ‘Help me, Obi-Wan’ speech.”
