Milo Ventimiglia Gives Fans Geektastic Battles on Ultradome

StarWars.com Team | January 22, 2010

Fans love to debate who would win in a fight — a Jedi versus a Hobbit? Han Solo against Indiana Jones? And now they can see these battles take place in the ultimate arena — Ultradome!

Heroes star and avid Star Wars fan Milo Ventimiglia, with his production company DiViDe Pictures, bring these awesome battle match-ups and more to MSN with their new Web show Ultradome — starting Jan 25! And the first episode pits a Star Wars Jedi vs. a Lord of the Rings Hobbit — to the death!

MSN interviews Milo about this new show, how a gift of lightsabers helped spawn the idea for the show and who he’d like to see Boba Fett battle against:

What was the origin of Ultradome? How did you guys come up with this idea?

Milo Ventimiglia: Actually, it came to lightsabers. Russ, my producing partner — we got a couple of lightsabers from Lucasfilm and we made some small videos where Russ and I are battling one another with our lightsabers. I mean, totally low-fi, there’s no effects. Two big kids playing with lightsabers.

And we sat down with Agility and the idea just kind of germinated where it wasn’t just lightsaber battles but what we’re actually taking geek culture and pop culture and we’re kind of mashing that all together in a battle to the death. So once we had the initial idea, then we discussed the potential and possibility of what these battles would be and it grew into what is Ultradome now.

Retro Empire Sticker Generator

StarWars.com Team | January 19, 2010

bobaf

Back in 1980, your Star Wars cred could be nudged up by owning one rare mail-away Boba Fett action figure, wearing the first ringer tee bearing the Empire logo, or labelling the front of your Pee Chee with Empire Strikes Back sticker letters.

Thanks to fan Tony Damata, whose virtual sticker generator serves up those old hard-to-find letters (which we tore through countless Empire gum card packs to collect), we can now badge our names all over the blogosphere in Star Wars style — just type, click, and save!

Fan Mugged for His Lightsaber

StarWars.com Team | January 15, 2010

It’s bad enough to be mugged for your wallet, but this unfortunate fan also was robbed of his replica lightsaber!

Let us know if any of you know who this victim is!

Yorkshire Evening Post reports:

The new decade got off to a bad start for the victim, who was dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi, when he was attacked by four youths while making his way home from a New Year’s Eve fancy dress party.

The 37-year-old accounts manager was grabbed as he trekked home from the Brudenell Social Club along Queens Road, Hyde Park, Leeds, between 1.30am and 2am on New Year’s Day.

As he passed the Harolds streets area he was pinned against a wall and punched and kicked to the ground from behind by four youths.

After delivering the brutal beating the cowardly yobs stole the rare Master Replica FX “lightsaber” which could cost as much as £300 to replace.

Inside the Millennium Falcon Bed

When we first found out about the Force-tastic Millennium Falcon bed made by fan and artist Kayla Kromer, we had to know more.

We asked Kayla — who happens to be a 1st grade teacher hailing from Austin, Texas — why she made a bed fit for every Star Wars who has ever dreamt over co-piloting the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

Why did you decide to make that awesome Millennium Falcon bed?

I mostly like to have fun, and I like making things. The original idea was to make a Death Star bed, but my idea was too big to execute in my room. But the idea of doing something spacey stuck.

What materials did you use?

The bed is a ’70s round mattress. The sides, cockpit and triangular pieces are foam. The comforter is a down comforter my mom donated. The duvet and everything is covered in gray flannel. The sheets are just white sheets modded for a circular mattress. I used a variety of fabric paints for the detail work.

Darth Vader Joins Salvation Army

StarWars.com Team | November 30, 2009

It’s that time of year again where volunteers dress liked Santa and elves ring a bell outside busy shopping centers to raise money for the Salvation Army.

On Saturday, several volunteers dressed as Star Wars characters took their turn ringing bells at both Jefferson City Wal-mart.

“They figure if characters are willing to come out here dressed up, they’re putting a lot of extra effort into the charity,” said Chris Adams, with the Star Wars 501st Legion, who dressed as Darth Vader. “So they might donate just a little bit extra money than they normally would.”

This is the third year the Star Wars characters volunteered to help ring the bells. The money raised goes to help the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign.
