Bonnie Burton | June 22, 2010

Say what you will about Darth Vader, the guy knew how to make a fashion statement. Illustrator John Woo not only understood the power of dark side threads, he decided to give some of the most well-known characters in the Star Wars galaxy a high fashion makeover.

Hong Kong-based illustrator John Woo presents his latest series of works, dubbed He Wears It. The series takes on an obvious theme, highlights key characters from the Star Wars film franchise and decking them out in today’s more hyped brands. Featured brands include the likes of COMME des GARCONS, Viktor & Rolf, Supreme, visvim, Maison Martin Margiela, Thom Browne and Band of Outsiders.

The Ultimate R2-D2 College Prank

StarWars.com Team | June 2, 2010

Now THAT’S the droid we’re looking for! Granted, it is hard to miss.

Carleton’s Goodsell Observatory gets turned into R2-D2 by an unknown group of enterprising students — complete with sound effects. All the “decorations” appear to have been draped or taped onto the dome; there was no defacing with spray paint, etc.

Lobot Speaks in the StarWars.com Soundboards

StarWars.com Team | May 19, 2010

In case you missed it last Friday, the StarWars.com Soundboards updated with an entry for Lobot, the mute Cloud City operative who works behind the scenes for the scheming Lando Calrissian. Think Lobot’s a strange fit for the Soundboards? Perhaps, but we’ve asked StarWars.com’s senior designer Craig Drake, a vintage synth musician when he’s not designing cool Empire Strikes Back landing pages, a few questions about his Lobot “speak”:

So, why give Lobot a voice?
“Let’s face it, Lobot is the man!… er… man-droid… er cyborg. He’s the unsung Cloud City hero. I’m sure most Lobot fans have been curious about his silent yet effective methods over the years. This was a chance to bring them to light without unmasking too much of his mystery.”

DIY Star Wars Fingernail Designs!

Bonnie Burton | May 11, 2010

Show off your love for Star Wars with nails worthy of the Empire.

All you have to do is take your passion for nail design and mix a little bit of Star Wars in it. Transform your nails to resemble a white stormtrooper or the evil lord Darth Vader.

Begin with a coat of transparent nail enamel. If you have decided to sport a stormtrooper design on your nail, then apply a coat of white nail polish. On this, you could gently paint on the facial features of the trooper using a black shade. Top it off with a dry fast top coat.

It is extremely simple to do and the reaction you get from your Star Wars crazed boyfriend, or husband, will make you feel like their prized possession. You may even be invited to celebrate the day with them. Go Girl Power!!!

There is a lot you can do with Star Wars on your nails. You can sport multiple characters on your nails and transform them into a style statement.

Reusable Star Wars Mugs for Earth Day

StarWars.com Team | April 22, 2010

Our fave baristas pose with the Chewie mug!

While it’s commendable to make the world a cleaner place on Earth Day, we want to suggest that fans around the globe do their part every day by taking their favorite Star Wars mug to their usual cafe.

It might not seem a like a huge gesture, but by skipping the usual paper cup you’re helping to reduce your carbon footprint, while showing off your Star Wars pride at the same time.

Recently, Starbucks offered free coffee on Free Coffee Day to those customers who brought in reusable mugs, so the crew from Starwars.com headed over to our favorite Starbucks next to the Lucasfilm campus at the Presidio in San Francisco.

Learn more how you can make a difference by drinking from reusable cups!
