It’s hard for me to believe that we are almost upon the sixth Star Wars Celebration! Every few years, fans look forward to the mecca of Star Wars events and this year’s convention is shaping up to be the best ever.

Ten years ago, George Lucas asked me to do something. And I didn’t do it. I didn’t not do it to be a jerk. I didn’t try and wait to give myself time to grow a better beard than him. (I couldn’t do it anyway. That dude knows how to rock a beard, especially as I can barely keep my 90’s goatee in line.) No, there were a bunch of reasons. Life reasons. Work reasons. Fear. Laziness. Parenthood. But in the end, I did what he asked and now I really hope he’s cool with it.

As a member of the 501st Legion’s Florida Garrison since 1999, I’ve been fortunate enough to take part in dozens of trooping events throughout the Sunshine State. And out of all of those memorable dates, none has stood out so much in my mind as Star Wars Celebration V two years ago. When I found out that Celebration would be returning to Orlando in 2012, my mind immediately shifted into overdrive as I began to think of what the 501st could possibly do to top the biggest Star Wars fan gathering of 2010.

Hello! I’m James and I’m one half of the brains behind the Bounty Hunt at Star Wars Celebration VI. My friend Dan and I have been organizing photo scavenger hunts and puzzle races for several years now, and we’re bringing all our fiendish fun to Orlando. We think that the Bounty Hunt is great for Star Wars fans who want to do something fun, exciting, and active at CVI. This is our third time putting on a clue solving adventure at Star Wars Celebration, and we’ve got a few new tricks for this year.

It’s no secret that I have a crush on Jabba the Hutt. What can I say? I find his laugh irresistible. So what better way to show my love for the coolest gangster in the galaxy than by wearing him on my feet!
Recently crafters have been hand-painting TOMS shoes with their favorite Star Wars characters. There have been shoes inspired by R2-D2, C-3PO, and even Boba Fett. For my Jabba-inspired footwear, I snagged an olive green pair and set out to make my sluggy slip-ons!

My first exposure to the addicting world of Star Wars tattoos came from the same likely source as many other people’s first exposure – Jon Bradley Snyder’s short but eye-opening article entitled “Skin Deep” in Star Wars Insider #26, published in the summer of 1995. I was young, too young to get tattoos of my own, but I was completely enthralled and I knew then and there that the first tattoos I would get HAD to be Star Wars related. Little did I know at the time just how integral a part of my life, and fandom as a whole, Star Wars tattoos would eventually become…

We heard earlier this week from Carrie Goldman, mother of Katie Goldman; the Star Wars girl who united fangirls and fanboys all over the world after her Mom shared her story of being bullied for carrying a Star Wars water bottle to school, that she will soon be releasing a book called Bullied. After her daughter’s experience with bullying, Carrie has poured herself into research for more than a year and has written an amazing guide telling us what every parent, teacher and kid needs to know about ending the cycle of fear. I was honored to speak with Carrie as she was doing research for her book and I had the opportunity to share my stories and experiences with her. In anticipation for the book’s release, I have joined Team Bullied, a website devoted to sharing videos from fans all over the world telling their personal stories about bullying and sharing advice. You can watch my video above.
