Course of the Force: Will You Be My C3PO?

Katie Linendoll | July 3, 2012

Hi hi! Katie Linendoll here from Spike TV’s “All Access Weekly.”  I am super pumped to be running in Course of the Force!  As many of you know Course of the Force is an Olympic-style lightsaber torch run from Santa Monica to San Diego in preparation for Comic-Con.  Naturally, I asked my mom to design a one-of-a-kind light-up R2 costume for me. Why?  Because I’m obsessed with R2!! From R2 ice cube trays, an R2 robot that patrols my home and my R2 Xbox, he is the one and only man for me. Anyhow, mom delivered a custom R2 costume with an English twist (including fascinator) -formally dubbing it “R2-D2 Across the Pond” – nerd amazingness!!  She also hand-painted R2 shoes!  What do you think??

Koto Shock Trooper 2-Pack a WonderCon Exclusive

StarWars.com Team | March 7, 2012

Sold exclusively at next week’s WonderCon in Anaheim, California, Kotobukiya will be offering an exclusive Shock Trooper 2-pack pre-painted snap-fit kit through Action Figure Xpress (booth #457)!

The 1/10 scale statue stands over 7 inches tall and is limited to just 1,000 pieces. From Kotobukiya:

Outfitted in standard Clone Trooper armor, these elite security forces were immediately recognizable by their bold red markings, the same that differentiate these ARTFX+ statues from the clones that came before them! Perfect miniature versions of the onscreen characters, these dynamic Clone Trooper repaints have fully detailed armor and weapons. Both included Shock Troopers come with multiple arm and leg parts giving you a variety of poses to choose from, and they’re ready for battle with both DC-15S blaster carbines and DC-15A blaster rifles! Finally, like the other ARTFX+ Star Wars figures the elite units have magnets in their feet for display on included bases.

If you’ll be attending WonderCon at the Anaheim Convention Center March 16-18, stop by Action Figure Xpress (booth #457) to add this stunning pair to your collection! There are also a limited number of pre-orders available at Action Figure Xpress.

New Star Wars Identities Exhibit Portraits

StarWars.com Team | March 6, 2012

(DETAIL)

The Star Wars Identities exhibit, which opens in Montreal, Canada on April 19 and comes to Edmonton, Canada on October 27, will explore the theme of personal identity both in ourselves and in the characters that inhabit the Star Wars universe. The exhibit’s marquee image – the inkblot Darth Vader – quickly captivated our readers when it was first revealed last November. Canadian ad agency Bleublancrouge, who created the inkblot Vader video and is one of three companies that make up X3 Productions (the exhibit’s licensee), has created several new character portraits for the campaign, which we’ve showcased below.

Rather than offer an explanation of each, we are leaving it to our readers to decipher the meaning inherent in the portraits. Given the exhibit’s theme of identity, or “the forces that shape us,” the illustrations draw inspiration from each character’s individuality — what it is that makes them unique or the things and events that shaped them along the way.

Check out the expanded images, and offer your interpretations in the comments below!
