A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to tag along with Course of the Force during its epic journey from Santa Monica to San Diego — which conveniently took a quick detour through LEGOLAND California. While we were at the park we couldn’t help but shoot some pictures of the awesome LEGO Star Wars Miniland, a whole area devoted to LEGO recreations of iconic scenes and characters from the Star Wars universe.

Hi all. I’m Matt and I’m a part of the StarWars.com team here at Lucasfilm. This past Saturday I had the honor and privilege to act as Lucasfilm’s official judge for the “Best Costume(s) from the Star Wars Galaxy” award at San Diego Comic-Con’s annual Masquerade – presented by HBO (I remember this because the whole shebang started with a long True Blood commercial).

Whew! San Diego Comic Con is over and it was SO much fun! It was great to see all of my old friends and meet some new ones! One of the highlights of my Con experience was the third annual Her Universe panel. I was inspired by the NBC show Fashion Star, where up and coming fashion designers have the opportunity to show their designs to the experts and retail buyers.

One of the greatest things about San Diego Comic-Con is getting to see all the incredible costumes fans make! Whether a cosplayer spends a day or a year on their creation, their costumes are always a fun sight on the convention floor. Nothing is more exciting than seeing your favorite heroes or villains in person! This year we saw everything from an impressive looking AT-ST to a rhinestone-encrusted Stormtrooper. Here are some of my favorite Star Wars costumes from SDCC 2012!

The Millennium Falcon holds a special place in my heart. It’s an underdog of a ship with a lot of wear and tear, but for me that always made it more fun to root for. And even though Luke Skywalker called it a “piece of junk,” she is surprisingly powerful and fast! Plus, saving Lando Calrissian’s life a few times is pretty awesome. So at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con – as a tribute to my favorite ship in the Star Wars universe – I cosplayed as the Millennium Falcon!
