Artist/photographer Stephen Hayford sends us two fantastic action figure diorama photos commemorating this month’s release of the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray collection, which includes clips from several cut scenes, including the infamous Tatooine sandstorm sequence that was to follow the heroes’ escape from Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi.
Hayford also sends a nod to Lucas’ penchant for never tossing out an idea that might be used later…

So we couldn’t resist sharing a great ride pieced together by Russian fan Dee Troy, who’s posted several pics of his “Phat Stormtrooper” over at RatRodBikes.com. If you had any doubts that R2-D2 and Han Solo are the coolest characters in Star Wars before, Kotobukiya has a product that finally proves it with these ice and chocolate mold silicone trays.
In their booth in the Star Wars Pavilion at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego, CA, fans can see Han in Ice and R2-D2 on the rocks with this fun display.
Her Universe is also back in full “Force” at this year’s Comic-Con, showing off their latest geek girl Star Wars fashions. Ashley Eckstein also tells us that they have new clothes and accessories for awesome SyFy shows like Warehouse 13 and Battlestar Galactica for those fans who like to mix up their sci-fi.
If you have a Boba Fett-ish, then Her Universe has the clothes for you!
Another hit in the Star Wars Pavilion are the new holiday ornaments from Hallmark! Darth Maul never looked more festive!

In the wake of the recent earthquake disaster in Japan, fans from across the Pacific have received authorization from Lucasfilm to create Jedi-themed t-shirts to aid in the relief effort — a cool “We Are Jedi” banner with the country’s signature hook-shape forming the “J”. From the “We Are Jedi Project” website:
While many charity activities were made around the world, we, Japanese Star Wars fans were thinking what we could do. And then we decided to start our fundraising project. The 1st mission is to make “We are JEDI” T-shirts.
While our T-shirt project is not sponsored by Lucasfilm Ltd., we got authorization and cooperation to use some Star Wars phrases and images.
These T-shirts will be developed under the supervision of Lucasfilm and all the profits that we got from the sale of them will be contributed to the Japan Red Cross Society.
Payments can easily be made through Paypal so head on over and count yourself among the Jedi in Japan!

Why watch Star Wars on your TV in a boring living room when you can pretend you’re hanging with R2-D2 and C-3PO in the cockpit of a Corellian Cruiser?
Gizmodo.com writes:
The house has 6 flat panel HDTVs each with their own futuristic touchscreen remote from Creston (each with one button – “WATCH DVD” – that sets all the correct inputs and eliminates headaches). But I’m pretty sure I’d be spending all my time in the theater.
It has life-size R2-D2 and C-3PO replicas that talk to the audience (I assume 3PO stays quiet during the actual screenings), a ceiling featuring a three-dimensional fiber optic scarscape, and a motorized pocket door that serves as the entrance, just like you’d find on a Corellian Cruiser.

Hong Kong artist Dorothy Tang created these whimsical posters to celebrate the launch of the Star Wars x adidas Originals Collection.
Done in the Chinese propaganda poster art style of “Nianhua” (New Year prints) these chubby babies called “pang wa wa” sure would have made the Star Wars saga extra-cuddly.

Joe Yglesias collects Star Wars bootlegs — that is, quasi-Star-Wars-related merchandise that sports names like “Star Force”, “Star Battle”, “Space Gambler”, and “Star Knight” — which bear more than just a passing resemblance to characters, hardware, and weapons from our favorite faraway galaxy. Most of this stuff has been ignored, or even shunned by collectors — until now. Star Wars bootlegs and knock-offs have begun taking on a novel appeal among a growing number of fans, especially those who recall spying the stuff on their local dime store shelves back in the ’70s.
“When I started getting into bootlegs it was just for the novelty factor,” says Yglesias, who recently devoted an entire room of his house to display his Star Wars knock-off collection. “As I delved deeper into bootlegs, they took over as my prime interest. I was intrigued by them, partially for the cheese factor of the badly made, oddly-colored toys, and partially for the history of the items and how/where they were made. Now, easily 15 years later, I’ve sold or traded the majority of my licensed items and turned my collection area into a shrine for misfit Star Wars toys from around the world.”

Star Wars undoubtedly owes the Western gunslinger for helping to shape the characters that populate its universe (see Five Westerns Every Star Wars Fan Should See) — a debt that artist figure customizer Sillof has paid in spades.
A recent update to Sillof’s Workshop includes five entries to his “West Wars” series of custom figures, which marries the Star Wars universe with the design sensibilities of the Old West. From the site:
West Wars is a line of custom figures that continues my experiment of breaking down Star Wars many elements and emphasizing them individually. The original trilogy, especially A New Hope, were influenced by westerns. The dusty small frontier towns, the seedy cantina, the quick draw shootouts, etc. This line is intended to be fully western with no other elements. For further authenticity all the names are actual combinations of historical lawmen and outlaws of the American West.

Collectors and fans who’d like to add something a little different to their Star Wars art collection should check out this new series of art prints from Mondo.
Mondo is the Alamo Drafthouse’s collectible art boutique, featuring designs from world famous artists based on licenses for popular TV and movie properties including Star Wars, Star Trek and Universal Monsters.
These prints are VERY limited in run and are snatched up by collectors quickly, selling out in mere minutes. So if you want to know which prints are on sale and when, follow MondoNews on Twitter!
Here’s the last set of prints from Mondo — Star Wars Posters by Tyler Stout — 24″x36″ screen print. Hand numbered. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. Each has an edition of 850.
