McDonald’s Star Wars Spinners

Starting February 10 in U.S. McDonald’s restaurants, fans will be able to collect one of eight Episode I 3D-themed spinners with the purchase of a Happy Meal!

The spinners, which are launched like tops from a spring-loaded handle, come in eight shapes: Darth Maul’s lightsaber, Sebulba’s Pod Racer engine, Mace Windu’s lightsaber, Qui-Gon Jinn’s lightsaber, Yoda’s lightsaber, R2-D2, Anakin’s Pod Racer engine, and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber. The spinners themselves showcase the corresponding handle’s “owner.”

Look for all eight Star Wars spinners at participating McDonald’s in the U.S. starting this Friday (and while you’re at it, go catch Episode I 3D in theaters!).

This striking Queen Amidala tee, designed by Lucasfilm’s Craig Drake, is available through midnight Sunday (February 12) in a womens fitted, mens, and hoodie. Darth Maul Puck for Tampa Bay Lightning Fans

It’s Star Wars Episode I 3D night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Thursday, February 16, when the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team takes on the San Jose Sharks! Select ticket-holders will sit in a special Star Wars seating section, have photo-ops with costumed characters from the 501st Legion, and receive a limited edition Phantom Menace Lightning puck (pictured above)!

The puck comes as part of a “Star Wars Prequel VIP Pack,” which also includes a terrace endzone seat, a “stadium favorites” menu, and a selection of beverages. Click the image below for an expanded view of the event flyer and ticket information.

Episode I Toy Premiums from French Quick Restaurants

Fans from France, Belgium and Luxemburg may have recently discovered a cool Episode I 3D-themed promotion overtaking their local Quick restaurant – a promotion which earned a lot of buzz last month with a sneak peek of a black-bunned “Dark Vador Burger” (which doesn’t yet appear on the chain’s French site – it will be offered exclusively in France between March 2 – 5).

In addition to the Dark Burger and Jedi Burger currently available between January 31 and March 1 in France (or to March 5 in Belgium and Luxemburg), there are several Episode I 3D toys being offered in Quick “Magic Boxes”, the equivalent of a Happy Meal box in the U.S. While the Magic Box toys are usually reserved for younger children, older fans – ages 9-14 – are eligible to receive some cool menu top box items, such as light-up lightsaber key chains, glow-in-the-dark bracelets, buttons, and iron-ons.

Exclusive Darth Maul 3D Glasses at RealD Theaters

Fans have the chance to feel the Force like never before with an exclusive pair of Darth Maul 3D glasses at all RealD theaters across the country! The glasses, tattooed like the sinister Sith, are available while supplies last at day-one 3D screenings of Episode I at all RealD theaters. Check your local RealD theater for additional details!

Additionally, 10 AMC theaters across the U.S. will be hosting special event screenings of Episode I, which will offer activities, interactive experiences, and giveaways (including a pair of exclusive Podracer 3D glasses!). Vader Vs. Maul in Star Wars Galaxy Comic #17

Titan sends us an update for its UK/Ireland readers today with release information for Star Wars Galaxy #17, which hit the newsstands on January 26. Here’s the update plus several sample pages from the issue:

Star Wars Galaxy celebrates the release of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in 3D with an all-action story featuring the big, bad Sith, Darth Maul, as he takes on Lord Vader in a high-octane battle for survival! “Resurrection” is a Star Wars tale that you won’t want to miss – and you can check out preview artwork below! Also included in this issue is a fantastic Darth Maul poster – again, check it out on this page.

Lucas, Filoni and Others Sign Clone Wars Poster for Charity

Clone Wars Supervising Director Dave Filoni

In an effort to support the Aids and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund of San Francisco, Lucasfilm Animation has just posted a 3-day auction at eBay for a rare Clone Wars artwork poster by Dave Filoni, supervising director of The Clone Wars. In addition to the striking artwork, what makes this poster exceptionally cool are the signatures that grace it — here’s the auction description:

This is an extremely rare poster that was only made available to select pass-holders at Star Wars Celebration V (2010). The artwork was done by Dave Filoni, Supervising Director of the hit series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and features fan-favorite characters – Cad Bane and Boba Fett.

The poster includes original signatures from George Lucas, Dave Filoni, Daniel Logan (“Boba Fett” in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Corey Burton (“Cad Bane,” “Count Dooku,” and “Ziro the Hutt” in Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Opportunities to pick up any officially-sanctioned, multiple-signature posters from Lucasfilm don’t come up too often, and this one’s window will be closing in less than 3 days — head on over now and place your bid!
