Filmmaker Zack Snyder recently started tweeting, which is exciting if you can’t wait to learn more about his upcoming action-fantasy film Sucker Punch.
We’ve already seen Snyder show off his Star Wars pride in a Watchmen Web doc, so it was only a matter of time before he tweeted about something Star Wars-related.
Sure enough, his fifth tweet was about his daughter’s birthday cake from Violet’s Cakes which so happened to be Yoda riding a unicorn. Bravo, Zack Snyder. Bravo.

When I first came across this epic piece of fan art of Chewbacca riding a giant squirrel into battle against the Nazis all I could think was “This is Wookiee-tastic!”
I tracked down the artist Tyler Edlin to chat about his masterpiece and its back story.
What is your art background?
I attended a 2 year certificate program at the Art Institute of Boston At Lesley University. I also have experience in photography and hold a Bachelors degree in design.
What is the story behind that awesome piece of art depicting Chewbacca riding a giant squirrel into battle against Nazi soldiers?
I asked my friend Gary what he would like a for a wedding present. At first he said Chewbacca riding a giant squirrel into battle against an unseen force living in the shadows.
He added, “give him long flowing fur and his mount should look adorable. He should be riding to expected death on a last charge.”
Eventually he settled on him battling Nazis. So there is the finished a product a wedding commission.

Every year at Comic-Con, we end our Star Wars programming with the “How to Draw Star Wars for Kids” panel. Star Wars artist Katie Cook and myself show kids (and adults) how to draw uber-cute versions of their favorite characters. It’s a great way for parents to sit down and relax with their younglings as they learn to draw and have some fun showing off their Star Wars knowledge.

Crafty Star Wars fan Heather Arlan used our Cuddly Bantha craft tutorial on StarWars.com and customized the craft to make her own adorkable herd of mini banthas.
We chatted with her to find out how she did it and why it was so much fun!
Why did you decide to make a herd of cuddly mini banthas?
Who wouldn’t want a herd of cuddly mini banthas? It’d been a long time since I did any sort of arts and crafts project, so I figured I would find something fun to make that had to do with Star Wars and found your tutorial online! I had bought enough materials to make one a lot larger, but figured I would give the little one a shot first. Once I finished it, I couldn’t help but make another. I still have enough to make at least 3 more, and that’ll probably happen before the end of the week.
Wedding cakes are always special, but there’s something extra-cool about a Star Wars wedding cake.

This may be the coolest and creepiest fan-made costume of General Grievous yet. I’m not sure if it’s the impressive costume or the fact that it’s filmed in someone’s living room, but I can’t help but wonder how many people this would freak out if they crossed paths with him in a dark alley.

Whenever I watch that scene in A New Hope where C-3PO and R2-D2 get kicked out of the Mos Eisley Cantina, and I wonder if C-3PO was wearing a derby hat if he would have gotten a Blue Milk?
If Chewbacca wore a monocle, would Leia really rather kiss a dapper Wookiee? (I know I would!)
I’m not the only one who wonders these things. Luckily, artist Greg Peliz put these ponderings into rather dignified Star Wars character portraits of C-3PO, Chewbacca (based on the original dapper Chewie painting by artist Robert Mackenzie), and Boba Fett.

Say what you will about Darth Vader, the guy knew how to make a fashion statement. Illustrator John Woo not only understood the power of dark side threads, he decided to give some of the most well-known characters in the Star Wars galaxy a high fashion makeover.
Hong Kong-based illustrator John Woo presents his latest series of works, dubbed He Wears It. The series takes on an obvious theme, highlights key characters from the Star Wars film franchise and decking them out in today’s more hyped brands. Featured brands include the likes of COMME des GARCONS, Viktor & Rolf, Supreme, visvim, Maison Martin Margiela, Thom Browne and Band of Outsiders.

Every year we do a Star Wars craft demo at Bay Area Maker Faire to show fans of all ages how to make something fun and show off their love for Star Wars at the same time.
In the past, we’ve shown kids how to make Yoda dolls, Star Wars marble magnets, Ewok sock puppets and Yoda stick puppets.
This year since puppets were such a hit, we showed fans how to make Star Wars bag puppets of Admiral Ackbar, Yoda, Princess Leia and an Ewok.

We all know that filmmaker George Lucas was influenced by the old sci-fi serials of his childhood when he made the Star Wars films. But now you can see how much those shows really did make their mark with this fan-made tribute to The Empire Strikes Back using old film footage. Bravo!
Let’s turn back the clock, shall we? Back to a distant time in an alternate universe far, far away… The 50s! It was a simpler age of 3-D movies, and robots named Robby, Gort, and Tobor. A hidden gem of this period in cinema is a little film called The Empire Strikes Back, the second chapter in a planned three-part epic science fiction trilogy.
While the preceding and succeeding episodes were never actually produced due to budgetary constraints, Empire shines as an example of 1950s 3-D space opera. The re-release of this trailer coincides with the 60th anniversary of this amazing film.
