This problem was rectified after yesterday, and even though Toy Story was made by Pixar Animation studios. The person who made that possible was George Lucas himself developing the Pixar computer. Which at the time were called editdroid, and sounddroid the first nonlinear digital editing systems. It would later be sold to Steve Jobs and became Pixar Animation Studios; which make most of our Pixar animation films.

No relation to Frank Oz the puppeteer and voice actor of Yoda; however, this cultural art museum is very cool not just for the artwork but to save historic sites for future generations as well as education. Everything about the cultural center looks great and best wishes to anyone who goes their. Thanks for the opportunity to look at great art and movie designs. And congrats to J.J Abrams director of Star Wars episode VII, Kathleen Kennedy President of Lucasfilm Ltd and executive producer, finally George Lucas himself creative consultant as well as creator.

There is an error with the PDF under Digital Animation. There is a picture of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie in Toy Story 3. It incorrectly says Toy Story 2.

This looks excellent though, and I can't wait to actually go there!

Steve, this is a great post! Thank you. It’s interesting to me how you connect the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum to the Bay Area as the birthplace of digital art.
Recently, I have discovered a great tradition born out of Wilmington, DE—the so-called Pyle School of illustrators and its links to N.C. Wyeth (whom you mention) and nearby Chadd’s Ford in PA. http://www.schoonoverstudios.com/, http://www.library.pitt.edu/libraries/is/enroom/illustrators/pyle.htm, http://www.brandywinemuseum.org/
Wilmington is forgotten as an early driver of industrialization in America, and the Pyle School of illustrative storytellers came out of the back end of that process in the late 19th century. Illustrators like Frank Schoonover served the explosion of magazine publishing and its supporting technologies in NYC and Philly from that period through WW I.
Thanks to the Lucas Museum, the Presidio Trust will enlighten folks and fans 100 years from now as to the digital art legacy being advanced today. Kudos all around.
