I seem to recall a cartoon in the 80s in the Village Voice, probably Jules Feiffer. There were these three figures walking abreast down the middle of the street–three captions, one each. The first was a punk, spiked hair. He say: I haven’t been above 14th Street in five years. The second, a hippie, long hair, droopy mustache. He say: “Dude. I haven’t been above 14th Street since 1968.” The third, an old beat, shades and a goatee. He say: “Man, that’s nothing. I haven’t been above 14th Street since the 50s.” Hey Katie….I dig cats.
