Giant monster! Notorious espionage! The second battle of Geonosis begins!

Zillo Beast.jpg

“The Zillo Beast” (S218)

The Republic’s new superweapon awakens the fearsome Zillo Beast of Malastare. Now the Jedi have a new problem on their hands — how to contain the deadly creature.

“The Zillo Beast Strikes Back” (S219)
Republic forces bring the Zillo Beast back to Coruscant for study. When it escapes, the Jedi must choose between saving millions of lives and destroying the Zillo Beast, the last of its kind.

  • Malastare is mentioned by name in The Phantom Menace, but not seen.
  • Anakin loses another one of his Delta-7B Jedi starfighters.
  • The arc concludes with talk of a conspiracy to clone the Zillo Beast.

Senate Spy

“Senate Spy” (S204)
At the Jedi Council’s request, Padmé investigates a Separatist conspiracy in the Senate.

  • Senator Lott Dod from The Phantom Menace continues to represent the Trade Federation in the Republic Senate. Though this is his first appearance in the series, chronologically, his first appearance is in “Supply Lines” (S303).
  • Poggle the Lesser from Attack of the Clones makes his first appearance in series. This episode sets up the four-part Geonosis arc that follows.
  • Cato Neimoidia is mentioned by name in Revenge of the Sith, but not seen. It was recently revisited in Season Five.
  • Padmé now has the Naboo star skiff she uses in Revenge of the Sith.
  • Senator Rush Clovis has ties to the InterGalactic Banking Clan, which provides funding to both the Republic and Separatist war efforts. Early sneak peeks into Season Five mentioned a return to Clovis’ story but those episodes ended up being taken off the Season Five schedule.

Landing at Point Rain

“Landing at Point Rain” (S205)

Anakin, Ahsoka, and Ki-Adi-Mundi lead a landing party to destroy a droid factory on Geonosis. They must stop it before it becomes active.

  • Ki-Adi-Mundi makes his first appearance in the series.
  • Though the Republic won the first Battle of Geonosis seen in Attack of the Clones, Poggle the Lesser has brought his people up from the catacombs to retake the Geonosian droid foundries.
  • Waxer and Boil from “Innocents of Ryloth” (S120) return, sporting ARF Trooper armor adorned with decals of their young Twi’lek friend, Numa, on their helmets.

Below is the episodic timeline which will continue to be updated as the episodes air in syndication.

Correction, Cato Neimoidia is in ROTS. It’s where we see Plo Koon get shot down.

  2. avatar KKA12Jo says:

    Great job !
And everyone makes mistakes like you did here
    No Problem

  3. avatar JonnyM says:

Great, thanks Leland. Perfect timing for me- I just finished re-watching the last batch this morning :)

  4. avatar Shea Flynn says:

Thanks for the post! I wonder what the next three episodes will be. Haha

    • avatar Rob says:

I do wonder sometimes why Leland ends these entries like this. It would be much simpler and probably cut down on the number of total entries required in the series if whole arcs were included in these updates.

  5. avatar Michael Logsdon says:

Just a question, where is the episode that follows after Clone Cadets from the Season 3 Premiere? Doesn’t that take place directly after Rookies?

    • avatar Rob says:

I’ve been wondering about this too. ‘Clone Cadets’ and ‘Rookies’ build up to the attack on Kamino. But with the current state of the timeline, it’s a full season and counting since ‘Rookies’ ended.

      • avatar CT-74-92024 says:

The reason why the episode “ARC Troopers” doesn’t appear right after Rookies is because Grievous needed time to formulate a new plan after his last one failed.

  6. avatar General Grievous' Bodyguard says:

The Clovis arc will be in Season 6 right?

  7. avatar Mgrozo says:

This is impossible! Clone Trooper Trapper died in The Zillo Beast, but is seen in Landing at Point Rain when Obi-Wan is rescued by Waxer and Boil! Continuity error! Please amend your chronology as soon as possible.

    • avatar Rob says:

I don’t think so. IIRC we saw SOME trooper die, but it wasn’t Trapper.

    • avatar JabbaJohnL says:

Is it possible that the trooper who was killed by the Zillo Beast was actually Hawkeye, and then Trapper escaped and fought on Geonosis? They didn’t have any markings on their armor in that episode so it could go either way. I haven’t seen the episode in a while so I can’t quite verify this, but it’s a possibility.

    • avatar Forge'd says:

Correct me if I’m wrong: The Trapper that appears in “Landing at Point Rain” serves in the 212th Attack Battalion of the Ghost Company. To my knowledge, Ghost Company doesn’t have a part in the battle of Malastare. Therefore, logically, I think we can infer that — similar to real life monikers — some clone troopers have identical nicknames.

      • avatar Tom says:

No. The Geonosis arc happens before Zillo Beast. We already established in the last blog that this “Chronology” has very little to do with the details of what’s on screen.

  8. avatar Tom says:

The more of this that shows up, the more I think a previously debunked order has more credibility. The newsreel order.

If you look at a) the details of a particular episode b) what previous episodes are seen in the newsreel c) disregard any scenes from episodes that had their timeline placement changed to expand the story (Cargo Of Doom, Hostage Crisis etc).
Lets give it a whirl:- Bounty Hunters on Felucia in peace, therefore set before Holocron trilogy. Bounty Hunters has scenes from Geonosis arc in newsreel, therefore set after Geonosis arc. Trapper alive on Geonosis. Trapper dies in Zillo Beast. Zillo beast has scenes from Geonosis in newsreel. Ponds alive in Zillo arc. Ponds dies in Boba Fett arc.
    so:-
    Senate Spy (2×04)
    Landing at Point Rain (2×05)
    Weapons Factory (2×06)
    Legacy of Terror (2×07)
    Brain Invaders (2×08)
    Bounty Hunters (2×17)
    Holocron Heist (2×01)
    Cargo of Doom (2×02)
    Children of the Force (2×03)
    The Zillo Beast (2×18)
The Zillo Beast Strikes Back (2×19)
And then the Boba Fett arc.

Is Felucia at peace when it shouldn’t be? no.
Is trapper alive when he shouldn’t be? no
Is an event in the “so far in the war” newsreel shown before it happens? no.
Are all the issues with the last two blogs solved? …….

    • avatar brian says:

according to wookieepedia it was the other MASH inspired character Hawkeye who dies on Malastare not Trapper

      • avatar Tom says:

Yes that has just been changed today, yesterday it stated that Trapper was killed. No foul then:)

        • avatar Mgrozo says:

What do you mean, it was just changed today? They can’t just change facts on wookieepedia without source material, and since there hasn’t been anything released in the past few days relievent to the MASH continuity mishap and Leland Chee STILL hasn’t commented on this conversation thread, why would they change anything?

    • avatar CT-74-92024 says:

First of all, obviously it’s a very long period of time between Holocron Heist and Bounty Hunters. Second you should have noticed that especially in Season 1 that the news reels have nothing to do with the timeline. And third we see that the clone from Jedi Crash and Boba use the same name “Lucky”, the name “Trapper” is evidently a generic name as well. Consider it solved! :)

      • avatar JonnyM says:

Exactly. Personally I find it a bit disrespectful to suggest that Leland doesn’t pay attention to details. That’s kind of his job. If there are questions raised by the chronology, there will be valid explanations. I don’t mind a bit of nit-picking, but there are more appropriate places for people to talk about their own preferred chronology, given that we read this find out what Leland thinks, which, when all is said and done, is all that matters. I had my own preferred chronology, but I’m willing to admit that Leland gets the final word.

        • avatar CT-74-92024 says:

In the end I always trust Mr. Chee, and I’m happy to explain Star Wars any day of the week.

So keep up up the good work Leland! I’m eager to see the next blog post. :)

        • avatar Rob says:

Eh. With regards to TCW, Chee strikes me as the unfortunate guy who has to make do with cleaning up someone else’s mess. To be clear, I really thoroughly enjoy TCW, so I don’t mean to knock it in the slightest. For the most part I love the stories that Filoni and crew are telling; but it’s Chee that’s the poor soul who has to sort out an increasingly tangled, contradictory, and incredibly dense (in terms of number of stories told) series of the three years of the war.

Details or no, sorting out the 22-19 BBY period is a monumental task and I don’t envy him for it. But let’s be honest here: even the best of us make mistakes. I don’t think it’s insulting anybody to acknowledge that simple fact.

  9. avatar Tom says:

Type in “Although Windu and Ponds made it to safety” in to google. Look for the wookipedia search result and get back to me.

  10. avatar Michael says:

I believe the next episodes will be:

    Weapons Factory
    Legacy of terror
    Brain invaders
    Grievous intrigue
    The deserter
    Death Trap
    R2 come home
    Lethal trackdown
    Sphere of influence
    ARC troopers
    The mandalore plot
    Voyage of temptation
    Duchess of mandalore
    Corruption
    The Academy
    Assassin
    Evil plans
    Hostage crisis
    Hunt for Ziro
    Heroes on both sides
    Pursuit of peace
    Senate murders

Then it goes in order for the second half of season 3

  11. avatar Open-a-Windu says:

Shouldn’t the Clone Wars Republic Heroes video game be included in the timeline? It added quite a bit to the aftermath of the Ryloth trilogy in my opinion. Or is that not considered the same level of canon?

  12. avatar Jonny M says:

Does anybody know why there’s been such a long silence from Mr Chee since this was posted? Are we waiting for the shows in syndication to catch up before the next batch can be posted?

  13. avatar Mattie says:

I see you’ve included the movies in the timeline, so will you also be including placement of the 2003 series episodes? (sorry if this has been asked previously)

  14. avatar Firebird says:

When is this going to start moving again? Tying the blog to the TV syndication schedule is all very well but some of us already have seasons 1 – 4 on blu-ray and want the correct order :)

  15. avatar Put Put says:

    next one pls^^

  16. avatar ViTverd says:

OKAY THATS IT! This whole “Chronicling The Clone Wars” feature has definitely been told to cease and desist by the ‘top dogs’. Sad times! Still so much confusion to clear up! :(

  17. avatar Leland Chee says:

New syndication episodes air this week (Weapons Factory and Legacy of Terror are currently available online) so expect a new blog soon. The Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Episode Guide covering all 108 episodes of the series is due out June 3rd, 2013. http://us.dk.com/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9781465408730,00.html “For the first time, all of the episodes will be presented in story order.”

    • avatar brian says:

Wow! Thanks for the info! Now where will the “bonus content” fit in? HaHa!

    • avatar clee says:

Really looking forward to a new blog entry! Thank you so much for still doing these since things are probably very busy at Lucasfilm right now.
I also can’t wait for the new Episode Guide–already pre-ordered a copy last month. Fry always does great work. And DK always delivers a nice product.
      Cheers!

  18. avatar Darth Rotvic says:

Hello there Keeper of the Holocron,

I have been very busy these last weeks, but during my free time I have been trying to put TCW in the overall SW timeline. I read in the Essential Readers Companion that the first episode of TCW series (Cat and Mouse) happens 7 weeks after episode 2. But it is not enough time to happen everything that is said to happen when Anakin was still a Padawan. There is not enough time to cover the first part of the original CW series, The Dark Reaper Crisis, the books Jedi Trial, Cestus Deception and Yoda:Dark Rendezvous and some comic books. I am writing that to suggest a modification in that timeline of the Clone Wars. In fact, I have two suggestions. The first one is simple: Make the Clone Wars a five years conflict instead of 3 years and put TCW after 2 years of war. My other suggestion is to make TCW happen 7 MONTHS ( or maybe 1 year) after the Battle of Geonosis and not 7 weeks, and keep the clone wars a 3 years conflict.
So, what do you think? Don´t you agree both that suggestions would make the clone wars timeline more coherent?

    Darth Rotvic
