Star Wars Black Series: The 6″ Figures You’re Looking For

Black Series Luke

We know what certain Jedi Masters have to say about judging by size, but this is definitely an exception to the rule.

Introducing Star Wars Black Series from Hasbro. The world’s first collection of 6″ Star Wars action figures.

Star Wars Black Series sets out to capture the quintessential characters and scenes from the Star Wars saga — legendary moments in time brought back to life in excruciatingly accurate detail. Go ahead and picture it. Luke Skywalker has just climbed down out of his X-wing fighter with helmet in hand after destroying the Death Star. Massive hangar doors slide open to reveal a sinister Darth Maul, prepared for an epic lightsaber battle on Naboo. These are the kinds of memories that are burned into the hearts and minds of every Star Wars fan. That’s why each figure is highly articulated and comes with the right accessories, so that fans can pose them to recapture these classic Star Wars scenes.

Black Series Luke

The color black has been synonymous with Star Wars since its inception back in the late ’70s. It’s a symbol of great quality that is reserved for high-end collector expressions, so it was a natural choice for this line’s moniker and packaging style — a sleek, minimally-etched, black box that allows the figures to speak for themselves. In short, its sexy. Slave Leia sexy.

Hasbro is releasing eight 6″ Star Wars Black Series figures this Fall, with the first four — Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Darth Maul, and Sandtrooper– hitting stores early August. Be on the lookout and may the Force be with you.

Great! These 6″ figures remind me of Mattel’s movie masterpiece figures. Hopefully these will be better. And the packaging on these Black Series figures is very cool! :) It seems all the figures that were supposed to be part of BAD are part of the Black Series but without the droid part. Oh well.

I love the name Black Series. And I’ll keep it clean and classy. I’ll take a Darth Vader and a dozen Stormtroopers.

Just like my first Star Wars figures back in ‘78 when I was 8. Only it was Darth Vader and one Stormtrooper. (I was a kid and only had an $8 dollar allowance.)

I am very unhappy that Hasbro cancelled the Clone Wars Line. It was the best line in my opinion and it seems ill timed to cancel it considering the popularity of the show.

I am very excited for this line. I like the fact that they are sticking mostly to the OT. Hopefully the few figures from the PT will be worthwhile figures such as Jango, Clone Troopers stages 1 and 2 etc and avoid the fluff like Jar Jar. As this is being targeted to the adults, I’m hoping to see more dramatic figures like Bounty Hunters, troops and pilots. I’ll definitely be buying these when they come out.

ME TOO. I hope they do Boba Fett and Darth Vader and Grievous. No Jar Jar or Battle Droids :(

I’ve been missing some decent collectibles out there on the market. Seems like the action figures on the shelves are just revamps of things I’ve seen in the past – so no need to spend the money. But this line seems intriguing (and well done, based on the couple of pics). I’ll keep my eyes open for them!

  7. avatar EggU says:

I’m definately looking forward to a Vader figure. Jar Jar as well, yeah go on and sue me.

  8. avatar Jay says:

Will these be available in Europe?

If not can these be pre ordered anywhere?

Please help these look so good.

I am looking forward to these, however I want to see the original line up done by Kenner and no one like Jar Jar Stinks and crap like that.

Hasbro has a habit of starting well then failing the fans, I hope the don’t screw the Wookiee on this one.

What I wan’t to see are the following figures first:

ANH: Don’t want Scene Specific, but do want Costume Specific
Han Solo (Mos Eisley and Stormtrooper)
Luke Skywalker (Farmboy, Stormtrooper, we are getting X-Wing Pilot)
      Chewbaca
C-3PO (Is a no Brainer we are getting R2)
      Princess Leia (Death Star Escape)
      Ben Kenobi
      Darth Vader
      Stormtrooper

      ESB:
      Han Solo (Hoth and Bespin)
      Luke Skywalker (Hoth and Bespin/Dagobah)
      Princess Leia (Hoth and Bespin)
      Lando
      Yoda
      Snowtrooper

      ROTJ:
Han Solo (Endor (w/removable trenchcoat) and Carbonite Han)
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight and Endor (w/removable poncho, underneath being Death Star Outfit)
Princess Leia (Slave and Endor (w/removable poncho w/briefing outfit underneath, Ewok Celebration)
Lando (Jabba’s Court and General Pilot/Endor outfit)
Wicket and Chief Chirpa (Twin Pack)
      Logray and Teebo (Twin Pack)

I hope this line does well there is so MANY characters to do :) If their 3 3/4 inch figures are cool, these will be even BIGGER AND BETTER (no pun intended)

    • avatar JTRcool says:

They are certainly screwing fans right now :( Hasbro can take their STUPID TRANSFORMERS AND MY LITTLE PONY CRAP AND PUT IT WHERE YOU KNOW :) :) If you smell what I’m Cooking :)
