100%! 100%! 100%! In the wee hours of Sunday morning (1:04 a.m. EST to be exact), we reached an important landmark: we have officially received a submission for every scene in The Empire Strikes Back Uncut. That’s 480 scenes, fuzzballs.
We are so excited for these scenes and by no means finished with this installment of Star Wars Uncut. There is still time for fans to claim and recreate scenes as we continue the saga. So go sign up! We want even more re-imaginings for each of the 480 scenes. Of course people love the “Luke I am your…” scene, but there are (literally hundreds) of other moments in this classic.
Here are some of our recent favorites to inspire you to Uncut action:
Check out the great Tauntaun makeup job in this scene by Voki Kalfayan:
“Luke. I am your Motherboard.” Michael Dore uses all kinds of fun materials for his scene:
And Ariel Belzit brings us poetic Yoda moments:

Empire Strikes Back Uncut 100%! Jo
My only problem with this project is allowing people to claim scenes so late in the project. So many scenes have multiple duplicates and some are really good. I think there is too much oversaturation. You need to start locking out clips and let those that claimed them early be the competition… not some guy who swoops in at the last second.
@jose:
I would say the exact opposite. I would hope that latecomers will have the same chance as those who got finished early and have been seen already. Sometimes people just have other priorites and sometimes the production takes longer and needs the time.
Scenes *should* stay open until they *all* close and then voting begins fresh once all the versions are available.
“…sometimes the production takes longer and needs the time.”
Philip, it’s the time constraint that gives Uncut its charm. I tune in to see earnest but slapdash takes on iconic Star Wars scenes; I don’t want to see the 30-day limit removed in favor of more professional, polished productions. That would make Uncut no different than any independent short film showcase. They’re great, but 30 days + no experience is a magical combination.
You run the risk, with leaving the process open too long, of getting so many polished scenes that the charming, inept, duct-tape & cardboard productions are edged out in favor of slick animation and semipro studios. I like those polished scenes, but I don’t want them to dominate the mix. Uncut is not my project and not my vision, and for all I know there are so many scenes we’re in no danger of getting too many polished ones, but I don’t think it’s an unreasonable concern.
I haven’t heard anything about “voting,” either. I don’t think we know yet how scenes will be chosen for the director’s cut this time around, or even if there will be a single director’s cut.

Hey,
Confused…
First, thanks for this great project. Loved the first movie, Star Wars UnCut.
My confusion is because this blog post says all 100% of the Empire Uncut scenes are claimed… but I went to the website, 3 days ago, and found the Lukes hand-lopping scene still up for grabs, it appeared, so I grabbed it, thinking that was really cool to be able to re-do that great scene… It now says I’ve got about 28 days to get this submitted, and I’ve laid out the story board for the shots… But… now I don’t know if this scene is mine or not, or if someone already has claimed this back in January…
Not meaning to complain, but just trying to understand.
If someone could explain this for me, I’d be very appreciative.
Thanks,
Mike
