IMPERIAL CENTER, CORUSCANT – The overwhelming military superiority of the Galactic Empire has been confirmed once again by the recent announcement by the President of the United States that his nation would not attempt to build a Death Star, despite the bellicose demands of the people of his tiny, aggressive planet. “It is doubtless that such a technological terror in the hands of so primitive a world would be used to upset the peace and sanctity of the citizens of the Galactic Empire,“ said Governor Wilhuff Tarkin of the Outer Rim Territories. “Such destructive power can only be wielded to protect and defend by so enlightened a leader as Emperor Palpatine.”
Representatives on behalf of the nation-state leader from the unimaginatively named planet refused to acknowledge the obvious cowardice of their choice, preferring instead to attribute the decision to fiscal responsibility. “The costs of construction they cited were ridiculously overestimated, though I suppose we must keep in mind that this miniscule planet does not have our massive means of production,” added Admiral Conan Motti of the Imperial Starfleet.
Emissaries of the Emperor also caution any seditious elements within the Galactic Senate not to believe Earth’s exaggerated claims of there being a weakness in the Death Star design. “Any attacks made upon such a station — should one ever be built — would be a useless gesture,” added Motti.

Hmph….A Death Star is simply a target that calls all enemies and foes and leads to the inevitable destruction of its creator. A large fleet would be more effective, for in the time it would take A Death Star to travel between Tatooine and Geonosis, a fleet of heavy star destroyers and frieghters could not only travel the distance between Tatooine and
Geonosis, but it could also make the jump all the way to the Kuat System. Why destroy other planets with a Death Star, why not simply send large fleets to the enemy planets and simply take them for ourselves.
The reason the empire wanted the death star was not for taking control of planets, they virtually had the galaxy in their grip to begin with. The reason for creating the death star was to strike fear into the hearts of any who dares stand up against the empire. Would you be more frightened of dying, or having your entire home planet destroyed and everything you know and love obliterated?

Such inperdence. I death star would have only drawn the attention of the imperial starfleet and i would have to eradicate such a blackwater planet. There are small rebel cells in the galaxy much more important to deal with than this underdeveloped planet.
A Death Star is overkill. Me must start a new petition on something that would actually serve us. Which is a fleet of star destroyers.
Why does it have to be called the Death Star, if we were trying to build a large space station to travel across the universe and meet new species with a name like Death Star it would not be a very good first impression. It should be more light-hearted like This Is Not A Large Floating Death Ray From Space Station or TINALFDRFSS for short

I attempted to make a bogus pledge of $1,000,000,000 dollars to the kickstarter death star project, but I was denied with the error “Please enter a pledge amount of $5,000 or less.”. How can we expect to make progress when confounded by such arbitrary restrictions.

To develop death star one should have teams of expert designers, Engineers and developers. Kickstarter may help to raise fund but if there any crowdfunding website for game campaigns will help to raise fund for death star or developing new spaceships.
