The time leading up to each Star Wars Celebration is an incredible adrenaline buzz, for me and I’m sure for hundreds of other people who are involved in the show – getting ready for the stages, finishing their fan exhibit, or completing their costume for the masquerade. There is so much to do that it’s the main focus of life – of my life certainly.

Without a doubt, the most often asked question I’ve been asked since The Clone Wars started four years ago is, “How does The Clone Wars fit into the existing Expanded Universe Clone Wars timeline?” The first seasons of The Clone Wars were peculiar in that episodes didn’t air in chronological order. You would have episodes in Seasons 2 and 3 that were actually prequels to episodes in Season 1. Here are a few of my notes regarding the timeline to help sort things out.

Many people wrote me to say they enjoyed the history of the 501st installment I did last month. So I thought I’d pick up on it from time to time and get more of the story out. Few people know just how widely the Legion has woven its saga. It messes with my head sometimes how far a good idea can go if nurtured at _just_ the right time.

Last week the Star Wars community was consumed with headlines of bullying and hurt feelings. The good news is that our community rallied together and condemned the thoughtless act of mockery and turned it into a teachable moment. However, amidst all of the negative headlines, something extremely exciting happened and I’d like to shine the spotlight on something positive in our community. (Of course I’m biased, but bear with me.) At Celebration VI, we had a Her Universe photo shoot for female Star Wars fans. Girls have been asking me for the past two years if they could be a Her Universe model. Her Universe is a brand for the fans and when the fans tell me what they want, I do my best to make it happen. So we were able to arrange a free photo shoot for any girl that showed up to strike a pose and have their photo taken by professional photographer Preston Mack.

I’m sorry it has been so long since my last blog. When I am away from the office as long as I was for Star Wars Celebration VI, there is always a lot to catch up on when I get back. I can now say that everything is pretty much back up to speed and The Clone Wars is moving forward, bigger and better than ever.

There are a bunch of people who assume that I’ve built my collection over the years through the generosity of Lucasfilm or licensees. “You mean they don’t automatically send you one of everything?” Nope. I go out hunting at retail or online and pay full price for nearly everything. Oh, now and then over the years a licensee that I’ve built a strong relationship with or helped with some project will be very kind and send me product or give me a healthy discount. I appreciate that a lot, because being a collector who likes nearly everything produced worldwide doesn’t mean that I can afford everything.

Ben Burtt, Matthew Wood and I hosted a panel at Celebration CVI over the weekend on Star Wars sound. A part of our presentation involved the breakdown of a scene from The Clone Wars (”Massacre”, season 4). I stripped out the sound effects and dialog from the scene leaving it rather bare bones. We invited volunteers from the audience to come up to the stage and perform the sound effects and dialog for us in order to rebuild the scene. One person performed lasers sounds (pew! pew!), another young man performed lightsaber swishes (WOOOW!), and two others performed explosions (kaBOOM!). The lasers were layered in as background battle and the swishes and explosions served as Ventress’ attack on the Super Battledroids. Three more volunteers perfumed the dialog in the scene (two Battle Droids and General Grievous).

R2-D2 Likes Cupcakes too!
Sooooo, I have been keeping this a secret for a long time but I am so excited to finally announce that I had the AMAZING opportunity to be a guest judge on this Sunday’s brand new Star Wars episode of The Cupcake Wars! I am a self proclaimed cupcake connoisseur and when I got the call to be on the show, I think the whole neighborhood could hear my excited screams! I joked that I’ve researched my whole life for this one pivotal moment…LOL! I joke, but kidding aside, I was ready. I took it very seriously and I had to try 15 cupcakes in one day! Don’t worry, I paced myself, and it was literally a dream come true. I got to sit on the judging panel with Sprinkles Cupcakes founder Candace Nelson, chef and co-owner of Mad-Mac Florian Bellanger and work with host Justin Willman. They were all so nice and I was completely geeking out on the inside the entire time because I was such a big fan!
