Sir, I would like to shake your hand. You've seen the original in theater? That's amazing!
What you brought up about the books and all they have added to the world of Star Wars, and the whole idea of how a new set of films will fit in with all of the "history" of Star Wars is also what concerns me most about this upcoming movie.
Oh, I love the books! When I first started reading the Thrawn trilogy (Please forgive me as I've forgotten the specific titles) my spirit soared! The characters I love; Leiah, Luke, Han, and Chebacca; were back, with adventures that sent my imagination to places far beyond from what I had been introduced to by Episode IV, V, and VI. And they all fit, as you mentioned, one author would build of the other. So many events, characters, and plots are part of "MY" Star Wars universe because of the books! (The Dark Nest Trilogy, for example.)
I pray that the new film is original, something that is instantly recognizable as Star Wars, but new. Something that we have not seen or read before.
Tom_Original_Fan, as one who is rather alone (that is, among my peers and family) in her love for reading Star Wars books, it feels rather encouraging to know that I'm not the only one concerned about Mara, Kyp, Jaina and Jacen, little Anakin Solo, and even Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Please don't think I'm strange, I'm really just an enthusiastic fan (who, again, is rather alone in her love for Star Wars among peers and family), but it would be thrilling to read more about your reaction to seeing the original Star Wars. If not, no problem. Hope you have a great new year. Long live books!

I completely agree with you I think that the story is dead or at least it should not be continued anymore. They are just trying to get yet another generation involved in the series so that they can make far more money off of the series.

In my opinion, The Clone Wars should never have been created. It was cool for like, the first season, but they just string it out, fill it with dumb plots and characters (Ahsoka for example), and they can't stop bringing back characters from the Original Trilogy. Dear Clone Wars writers, please think of better ideas for you cartoon, or please discontinue it. Sincerely, Jedi Beck

As someone who in 6th grade walked daily during summer vacation across the deserts of Palm Springs to see the original Star Wars when it played for an unprecedented 1.5 years in the main of only 2 screens in the entire town... I feel a great disturbance on Kathleen's words that make it sound like the novels don't exist. All the decades of cohesive canon that integrate seemlessly with the films, the diligent and talented work of Lucas' teams and authors working collaboratively to make every book take off where the last left off, and work as a cohesive body of lore. All gone? Thrawn, Rogue Squadron players, Kyp, Mara Jade, Saba, the Solo kids... all trash?

This seems like a great opportunity to "add value to" something very unique - a deep and seemless history of a fictional galaxy - something that has never been done before, that people hold value in... rather than fracture something that's very unique, and "take away from or destroy its value" as a cohesive and seemless body of lore.

I don't understand why they would do this. Will we start out the Disney Star Wars legacy by destroying Mara and Kyp et al, and everything that's been seemlessly added to chronicle Luke's era for decades beyond RotJ? Why do that to fans?

HELLO STAR WARS FANS,
My friend and I think it sucks to continue the original STAR WARS saga because the story about anakin skywalker/ darth vader is over.
besides, there are so many other star wars stories, for example the old republic story or the force unleashed story, or a story about any jedi in the timeline of the star wars.
we tought about a awsome triologie, THE JEDI CHRONICLES ....
There will be three films about three jedi from other timeages in the star wars universe. Maybe also a triologie about sith .....
WE hope you will se this comment and like it.
look at our facebookprofile RIP lucasarts and sent this message tpo your friends!!!!!
TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD of STAR WARS!!!
(sorry for grammar .... we are german)
