Dear Albin,
My daughter, the dancing Scout Trooper, met you last week at Celebration VI. Thank you so much for your early efforts that have become such a world wide phenomenon. In the picture of you with my daughter she looks like her head is going to explode because she was so excited to meet you. My 6'4" son is awaiting the day he can don Darth Vader Armor and join his sister in trooping. You are an amazing person who has done so much for so many. So from a Mom of just one of the many...my heartfelt thanks.

Great post Albin.

I wish I grew up in the U.S you guys do so many cool things so right (comic book store's, Halloween, Con's etc.) Only found out about the 501'st on Christmas day 2011, so inspirational is your legacy Albin and what the legion stands for that I just cant wait for that same first time trooping experience. I am so looking forward to serving and making a difference in this world for the better.

The kids of this generation need to see way more positive things happen at places like cinemas/events etc. to help dull the pain and fear of the recent past and give them a chance to see some of the magic that our generation took for granted. I truly hope one man's evil doesn't cause anything but a speed bump to the continuing fantastic work of thousands of GOOD people who believe in a world where the magic of our imaginations can create a better place for all of our kids. Look forward to your next post mate. Paul from Aus.

Howdy,

As someone that has only been in the legion for a few years in in a low density area (Alaska) I'm curious about the history of when some of the other costumes started showing up. Obviously the prequels set off a firestorm but before that when did you really start getting biker scouts, snowtroopers, or even Vaders for that matter?

Jeremy
Best bet is to get with the Florida Garrison. Celebration VI is happening this coming weekend, so if you don't already have plans to attend I'd recommend coming out and asking the Florida Garrison about joining - they are doing a FANTASTIC job of setting up the show there, just amazing.

Esh,
Great idea and one that I'll have to do more research on before going into detail. There was a real 'armor wars' going on at the time which I will lightly touch on in my next entry. But as to the mechanics of the different artisans making the armor, I'll have to dig them up to talk about it. Good stuff!

Thanks for the insight to the 501st Legion's origins. Looking at those pics and seeing you in armor for the first time, give me goosebumps similar to the goosebumps I got the first time I suited up in armor.
