But in the name of being fair, we’ll introduce him all the same: Dave Filoni is the Supervising Director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and a regular face at Star Wars fan events and screenings. Hello, Star Wars Fans. As the Supervising Director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I am hoping to give you weekly updates on this blog, which will take you inside the production of Season 5 and beyond. I know your first question now is “what’s the beyond?”, but let’s not worry about that just yet. Season Five promises to contain our biggest and most consequential episodes to date, so get ready, because starting at Comic Con things are going to get pretty spoiler-heavy. I’ve got some eye opening sequences to share with you this weekend, and if you like what you see at our panel Saturday then you better make the trip to Celebration VI in Orlando, because I’m going to show you a whole lot more.
I was working on my painting for the special pass holders at CELEBRATION VI this week. I just got a finished version sent in and I’m waiting to see a print of it to check the color balance, line quality etc. By the way, Kilian Plunkett and I looked at a character design this morning. It was a new version of a fan favorite, but looking quite different than before. Anyway, at some point I have to finalize what clips I’m going to show at Celebration. I have some ideas, but it’s always hard to balance between showing you guys too much and not enough.
I just remembered I have some additional scenes to shoot for an upcoming episode. It’s an important scene for Anakin and Ahsoka and I like to block and shoot those personally allot of the time. I’ll have to get to that next week. It’s one of my favorite moments, really: Daniel Arkin who wrote “Heroes on both Sides” wrote the scene and it turned out great. There’s no way I could show it at Celebration, though. Maybe something more… Death Watchy?
On to Comic Con. I’ve been getting constant updates from Seth Green, Tom Root, and Matt Senreich about the cool new stuff going on at Comic Con, so I know what I want to do and see when I hit the ground running tomorrow. And of course, there are the costumes. I can’t wait to see what people have been up to this year. I’m hoping for a Bo Katan or two, maybe a Krell, but that would be a big project. I have a wall at work dedicated to fans wearing Clone Wars costumes. I think it’s really inspiring for the crew to see the amazing attention to detail that fans of every age put into these costumes. If you’ve got a Clone Wars Costume, please come to the panel Saturday. I know Friday is Star Wars day and most of you will wear Star Wars costumes then, but I couldn’t get down to Comic Con on Friday this year, so if you can wear it to the panel, please do. I’d love to see it.

Lastly, I plan on really trying to show you guys what the Animation division is like. I keep looking around my office thinking of something to post, so I decided on a picture of my door. This is my door: the door to the office where much of the Clone Wars series begins and ends. There’s tons of cool things inside ( a fantastic Plo Koon collection) and many other things you cannot see… for now. Hello Dave , I’m a huge fan of star wars the clone wars and have been since the beginning when it came out in 2008. Looking forward to season 5 of clone wars. Also I must ask this question will we see Kitster and Ben Quadinaros on the clone wars? Take Care Dave and may the force be with you always.

Great blog! Sadly i live in the UK so can’t visit any of the big events. Was at celebration Europe a few years back though in London, hope theres another.
re Clone Wars, am loving the show, gets better and better! Be great to see Ahsoka leave the Jedi order and start a life with Lux. That would play off great for Anakin as he is seeing Padme but has Jedi master in mind, and mixing Love with the Jedi way doesnt work out well eh!
Also, that would be a great excuse for one day (post ROTS) for Asoka to have a duel with Vader, then revealing he was once Anakin to her before he strikes her down.

Wondering whats happening now that GL has retired? Is it the end for Star Wars? Clone Wars? Will a 6th season happen? Will we get a clone wars style OT animated series set after Return of the Jedi? .. We can only dream.
Oh and I forgot, Is the live action series still happening? If so, will you be involved? Hope so, you got things covered with Star Wars.
really hoping we ger more Clone Wars, but i would love to see the show continue in future set in a different era. ie post OT or pre-OT/post PT.
Hoping to see Chewbacca again too, and hopefully he will pull some arms from sockets.

Im hopping to see lots of clones in season 5. It is the clone wars after all. Maybe go more in depth to the 212th wolfpack couruscant guard and maybe have commander bly appear or commander gree. Maybe Arc trooper Blitz as well.

Dave, Great to read your blog. It’s good to see Plo Koon showing his Pittsburgh pride! I just watched the Season 5 trailer on IGN. Fantastic clip! The crowd at SDCC must have have flipped out. The music cues were brilliant! And Bo Katan punching the mando’s helmet! Tough lady. Or tough gloves! Anyway, I hope Hasbro was watching because there was a potential wave of figures in that scene alone. Congratulations on the success of TCW. My kids and I love it! Keep up the great work and I hope we get a chance to meet you at CVI.

Yo soy un verdadero fanatico miro todas series, y.sueno con estar en la serie the clone wars como yedi o como alguien que apesar de no ser yedi puede demostrar que ser yedi y incluso ser el verdadero elegido. Y que este personaje mio este muy enamorado de ahaoka tano.

Hey, Dave! So good to have you on here, and it’s nice to see that Plo Koon is also a Pittsburgh fan! I’ve honestly been blown out of my seat by the trailers of season 5. I’ve been loving your show from the start and it’s been really wonderful to see how George Lucas thought of the CW. I’ve also loved seeing the behind the scenes videos that’s been posted on star wars. Your work on star wars has greatly given me more appreciation for the whole saga and beyond.
Speaking of beyond is George Lucas thinking of retiring yet? Or does he plan to lead SW all the way through the live action? I really hope that you do bring in the live action series even though I realize that it would be really expensive not to mention if any network is going to show it.
