A month ago, we reported on several Star Wars: Episode I 3D promotions being launched in Japan, including the Pepsi premium character straps.
With Episode I 3D still playing in theaters there (it was released March 15), the promotional tie-in campaigns are still very active, with some downright cool items available exclusively to Japanese fans and consumers.
Here’s a peek at some of the various premiums available at participating Japanese 7-Eleven stores, Domino’s Pizza outlets, and consumers of Gari Gari Kun ice-cream products:
7-Eleven (promo term 2/28 – 4/16)
Darth Maul chopsticks, place mat and chopstick rest with the advance purchase of movie tickets to see Episode I 3D

Yoda and Darth Maul “cup sitters” are free with the purchase of any Nissin Cup Noodle product (while supplies last)

5 lenticular folders available with the purchase of Meiji/Confectionary products (while supplies last)

Point campaign — each Star Wars-themed product sold at 7-Eleven has a point value, earning consumers various pieces of Star Wars merchandise, such as LEGO sets and Kotobukiya vinyl models. Star Wars-themed gift cards can also be purchased with the points, as can the 7-Eleven exclusive “Home Star R2-711” — an 8-inch Artoo unit deco’ed in 7-Eleven’s signature green, red and orange colors (it even projects stars on the ceiling!).
Domino’s Pizza (promo term 3/5 – 6/14)

Episode I 3D themed pizza boxes (character collage for large and R2-D2 for medium pizzas)

Darth Maul lightsaber poster tube (containing one of three different posters)

“Star Wars Collection” trading cards from Konami’s social game (3 different)

Darth Maul fork and spoon set (held together by magnets!) This premium becomes available May 23 to June 17
Gari Gari Kun (promo term 2/28 – 6/30)
Three ice cream bars — Space Chocolate, Meteorite-Chocolate Cookies and Star-Vanilla – include a popsicle stick with an illustrated lightsaber handle. If a lightsaber blade is revealed once the ice cream is eaten, it can be exchanged for an exclusive Episode I 3D t-shirt.

Oh hell, why don’t we get this cool stuff in America?
R2-711 looks awesome! I love seeing R2 droids with different color schemes.
I love them all!! Especially the chopsticks set! Cool!
I concur: what are we – sliced meat? Why aren’t these fab items promoted in the U.S.??
So happy I live in Japan, Star Wars is just exploding everywhere here! Darth Vadar was seen at on of the Tokyo subways recently as acting station master. Need to go check out 7-11 soon and also find some cup-of-noodles to buy, thanks for posting, it is hard to keep up with all that is coming out.
Someone’s got to import that great 8″ R2. I remember when Cowboys and Aliens was released I thought surely there would be a similarly interesting US 7-11 promotion for The Phantom Menace. I was wrong. Glad to see someone gets one.
I also really like the utensils and that poster tube.
I agree. Not fair. Why didn’t we get this cool stuff in the USA?
Those utensils are totally epic. So unfair they don’t have them in the U.S.! The R2 and the folders are pretty sweet too.
Hi- can you please explain where you got the dates from of “7-Eleven (promo term 2/28 – 4/16)”? Because I’m looking at http://www.sej.co.jp/cmp/starwarse13d.html which indicates it’s already finished (March 19th, deadline to mail 21st). Thanks. And may the fork be with you.
THe reason why we dont get cool stuff like the japanese is because american companies know we are willing to buy crap items. The japaneses demand items like this or they will not go near the stuff.
WHY DON’T WE GET THIS IN AMERICA FOR FRICKS SAKE??!
We got nothing to promote it here in the uk, sucks balls! I need that 711 R2 and darth maul cutlery in my life!
awwwww! I want the chopsticks! Japan always gets cool stuff! People over here in America, need to get more into Star Wars, then we might have this stuff! If more girls, like myself, liked SW, then there would be a ton of SW stuff! And maybe SW shirts for girls, at regular clothing stores. Now I kinda think America stinks. I wonder if you could buy some of this stuff, online.
I like the darth maul s chopstick doule baded lightsdaer, and his light sader, and also, palpatine, anakin/luke lightsader.
these are way cooler than the mcdonalds spinners and gogurt tubes
cool utensils. They looked like real light sabers the first time i saw them.
