Gamorrean Guard Qee by Jon-Paul Kaiser

Now black and white master, Jon-Paul Kaiser brings the legendary warrior to life in Qee form with his newest custom. Using the 2.5″ DIY Pigee Qee figure, Jon-Paul has once again captured the full essence of this brute.

The Gamorrean Guard Qee is an original piece — but fans can rejoice that Toy2R is releasing different works by JPK. From Series 6, the Great Khan 2.5″ Kaiju Toyer Qee and dropping later this month, the new 5″ Mini Qee Samurai Pumpkin. Future releases coming out before the holidays include JPK’s 8″ Artist Qee – the Zombie Pirate and just recently announced – a new 2.5″ Qee in next year’s Designer Collection Series Seven: PURE.

Now added to the online Qee Gallery – this piece now joins over 1,100 original customized Qees from talented artists from across the globe. Toy2R welcomes all artists to submit their customs to info@toy2rusa.com for inclusion to the gallery.

Recap: Clone Wars Zeum Event

Our friend of Star Wars Blog and fellow geek crafter Neil Baker headed to the The Clone Wars Weekend at Zeum this weekend in San Francisco.

Here’s his awesome report!

On the weekend of September 11 and 12, kids of all ages were able to immerse themselves in the world of Star Wars animation like never before at The Clone Wars Weekend which took place at Zeum, a branch of San Francisco’s Children’s Museum, which specializes in introducing children to the wonders of animation through multi-media arts and technology. It was the perfect breeding ground for the Star Wars animators of the future!

Once inside the building, which was festooned with our favorite Clone Wars characters, visitors were greeted by the fine folks of the Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion.

The Empire Strikes Chess!

LEGO builder and Star Wars fan Brandon Griffith built this awesome chess set from Empire Strikes Back LEGO pieces.

MAKE magazine writes:

My favorites are the mini dioramas detailing the bishops: bounty hunters and Han-in-carbonite for the Empire, Chewie w/busted C-3PO and Lando with his Bespin cronies for the Rebel Alliance. The Rebel queen with Han and Leia kissing in the Cloud City was especially well done.

The ladies of the award-winning Star Wars fan film Saber are back with a few of their friends including actor Seth Green, comics legend Stan Lee and Starbuck herself Katee Sackhoff — in a music video to celebrate geek girls everywhere.

“G33k & G4M3R Girls” — sung to the same tune as the hit song “California Girls” by Katy Perry — features Team Unicorn which includes actresses Michele Boyd (The Guild, How I Met Your Mother, Cold Case, Sons of Anarchy), Clare Grant (Walk the Line, $5 Cover, Black Snake Moan, Saber), Milynn Sarley (EA, TheGamerChick, LTA, Street Fighter High School), Rileah Vanderbilt (Hatchet, Frozen, Saber), and actor Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Family Guy) remind us all why geek girls rule!

There’s plenty of shout outs to Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel comics, Halo and more!

We’d all become friends because of our shared love for geeky stuff and bonded even more cosplaying as Sailor Scouts during Comic-Con this year. Milynn, Rileah and Michele actually all play in the same guild in World of Warcraft!

Milynn and Michele were on the way back from the beach when they started singing along to the Katy Perry song and had the idea for the parody! We all know geekery the best, so it seemed a natural idea for the new version. They started coming up with lyrics in the car and then got Rileah and Clare involved, and it all snowballed from there!

DROID R2-D2: Hunt for the Lost Plans

The Rebel Alliance needs your help in the search for the missing plans to the new Droid R2-D2 device. No doubt by now you have heard of the Internet-wide hunt to track down the lost schematics.

Various pieces of the lost plans have been scattered across the internet, like in this Industrial Automaton memo on Motorola.com which revealed a hidden code once deciphered. More info can be obtained here.

Your task is to follow the clues provided by Artoo in audio transmissions that can be monitored exclusively by following @DroidLanding on Twitter.

C-3PO can help you interpret the message here.

Assemble the four code sequences that correspond to each fragment of the lost Droid R2-D2 schematics. Be the first to solve the puzzle and you will be rewarded handsomely –- with a trusty Droid R2-D2 of your very own!

Mondo Limited-Edition Tatooine Print

“Dawn of Tatooine” by Shan Jiang

Collectors and fans who’d like to add something a little different to their Star Wars art collection should check out this new series of art prints from Mondo.

Mondo is the Alamo Drafthouse’s collectible art boutique, featuring designs from world famous artists based on licenses for popular TV and movie properties including Star Wars, Star Trek and Universal Monsters.

These prints are very limited in run and are snatched up by collectors quickly, selling out in mere minutes. So if you want to know which prints are on sale and when, follow MondoNews on Twitter!

Here’s the most recent print “Dawn of Tatooine” by artist Shan Jiang.

Jiang says about his print:

“Imagining what those people on Tatooine see in every day life is something I wanted to create for this Star Wars poster. One of the sandtroopers is patrolling on the night shift and decides to stay up on a high rock with his dewback. Maybe he is waiting to see the sunrise or just wants to be alone for a little while. It s a little peace before things eventually go wrong.”

Rare 1977 Harrison Ford Interview Emerges

Yesterday, the New York Times posted a story about a rare 1977 Harrison Ford video interview conducted by a Dallas-Fort Worth news channel reporter just as Star Wars (A New Hope) was making waves across the country during its initial release:

Wearing lapels as wide as the Millennium Falcon itself, Mr. Ford actually seems gracious about the budding fantasy franchise and complimentary to its creator, George Lucas, telling his interviewer that though he doesn’t regard himself as the Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon type, the film works because “it’s finally about people and not finally about science, so the energy of the movie goes towards exploring these human relationships.”

The interview, which apparently had first been posted to the original reporter’s website bobbiewygant.com back in July (and contains scores of other filmed interviews), presents a rare peek at the actor on the brink of super-stardom in 1977.
