Reusable Star Wars Mugs for Earth Day

StarWars.com Team | April 22, 2010

Our fave baristas pose with the Chewie mug!

While it’s commendable to make the world a cleaner place on Earth Day, we want to suggest that fans around the globe do their part every day by taking their favorite Star Wars mug to their usual cafe.

It might not seem a like a huge gesture, but by skipping the usual paper cup you’re helping to reduce your carbon footprint, while showing off your Star Wars pride at the same time.

Recently, Starbucks offered free coffee on Free Coffee Day to those customers who brought in reusable mugs, so the crew from Starwars.com headed over to our favorite Starbucks next to the Lucasfilm campus at the Presidio in San Francisco.

Learn more how you can make a difference by drinking from reusable cups!

R2-D2 Builders at WonderCon

StarWars.com Team | April 19, 2010

Everyone wants R2-D2 as a co-pilot but very few fans have the time and commitment to build one from scratch. It takes a very special breed of fan to not only put in the time, but the money, blood, sweat and tears it takes to make a bunch of parts into an astromech worth showing off.

WATCH OUR VIDEOS OF R2-D2 IN ACTION:

At this year’s WonderCon in San Francisco the R2 Builders Club gathered for their annual panel to discuss not only what it takes to build an astromech, but also the tricks of the trade for would-be Anakins and Jawas in the audience.

Star Wars Meets Lost Comic

StarWars.com Team | April 13, 2010

(Art by Graham Annable)
If you’ve been watching Lost, you already know the show is saturated with Star Wars references. Remember that epic Empire Strikes BackLost episode?

Now cartoonist Graham Annable has illustrated the ultimate LostStar Wars mash-up with hilarious results.

This new line of themed drawings has the added value of foretelling an Ewok’s demise in the belly of hungry castaways. Yub-nub-licious! Furthermore, Annable demonstrates the hilarious results of character-specific pairings between folks like Sayid and Boba Fett, Benjamin Linus and Darth Vader and even Hurley and Jabba the Hutt.

You can see the whole set of comics on Flickr:

Nathan Fillion Talks Lightsabers

StarWars.com Team | April 13, 2010

(Nathan Fillion on Castle)

We already knew actor Nathan Fillion’s character Richard Castle on the hit show Castle has Jedi Mind Trick skills, but this is the first time we’ve heard about Nathan’s own ability to wield a lightsaber.

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Nathan talked about his brief lightsaber battle with a neighbor one night after a party. We loved his Star Wars Christmas tree, but this might just seal the deal on why Nathan Fillion is one of our favorite celebrity Star Wars fans. Most impressive, Sir. Most impressive.
