Suffering from Star Wars Celebration V Withdrawal?

Bonnie Burton | August 20, 2010

Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Florida is over. And quite frankly many of us are depressed and going through withdrawal.

Here’s some ways on how to lessen your sadness now that you can’t look over your shoulder and see a giant AT-AT lurking behind you.

1. Have a Star Wars film marathon at home. Crank up your heater and humidifier to simulate Orlando weather.

2. Go on a Star Wars Celebration V shopping spree! Check out all the stuff you can buy like men’s Eau Lando Cologne, women’s “I Heart Scoundrels” T-shirt, Classic Yoda Ears Retro Cap and more!

3. Dress up as an Ewok and head to your local park for a picnic. It might not relieve you of all your depression, but it sure will entertain the squirrels.

4. Call up all your friends that have remote control R2-D2 toys, meet up at the mall, and have a DIY droid parade!

5. Put on the Lando mustache from the Celebration V Disguise Kit and wear it all week. Prepare to be flirted with non-stop.

I live in Florida, so I get a pass on simulating the humidity! Do you think the Orange County Convention Center would mind me running through the halls humming the Star Wars theme and swinging my lightsaber?

Aye – you read us well Bonnie. Never has an event made so many suffer when it became history.

Wednesday through Saturday this week I found myself thinking, “Last week at this time I was…….”

Can not keep the focus at work….totally useless, I am.
But a bit of joy – one of my sons arrived today to borrow my full-sized latex Yoda, Anakin lightsaber and Jedi robe. He will be using all of them in a presentation to teachers on how to relate to and keep kids in school. I’m rounding up Yoda quotes for him.

Ok, I’ve tried most of the item listed above… I think it’s gonna take a support group or something to get me out of this post SWCV funk I’m in…

I had a blast! Thanks for adding to my SW memories everyone, especially the fans! You guys rock!

I didn’t get to go, so I made my own mini-celebration. I just put on my Jedi cloak, grabbed a lightsaber, and played Battlefront and KotOR, then watched the OT.

I need more Star Wars friends in Florida, I would love to dress up and just walk around town and get all sorts of looks from people. Just walk around doing normal every day things, reading the newspaper, feeding birds, maybe rob a bank dressed as Darth Vader…you know everyday stuff

  9. avatar Simon says:

Wow, I thought it was just me. I hear what Brian’s saying – I thought the same thing about being back home in london… For about a week afterwards I kept thinking I saw Jedi out of the corner of my eye and each time I felt so down when I realised it was just a person wearing a long coat, dress, apron, something brown, etc.

Man I’ve got withdrawal symptoms bad. I could have easily gone another day at CV. Too bad they only come around every three years but it gives all of us something to look forward to.

This was my third Star Wars Celebration and I had a blast…however, the sadness has crept in and I can’t wait for CVI. Special recognition should be given to NiubNiub and the diorama building booth. What a great group of creative and talented people. I spent many hours helping build the Hoth scene from ESB. I had a VIP pass and was fortunate to sit only 7 rows back during the Main Event with Lucas and Stewart however, the diorama booth was just as exciting. I still have three of my pieces I made at the celebration sitting on my dinningroom table!
