NASA to Send C-3PO to the Moon?

StarWars.com Team | February 26, 2010

Is it just us or does NASA’s robot look a little like our favorite protocol droid C-3PO? Here’s hoping they give him better coping skills.

According to AmericaSpace:

Project M is a JSC Engineering Directorate led mission to put a lander on the moon with a robot within a 1,000 days starting Jan 1, 2010. “M” has significance in two ways. First, it is the Roman numeral for 1,000. And “M” is the first letter for “Moon.”

I hope they would allow netizens to vote for its name.

Just like how they had a poll for the latest International Space Station module Tranquility. Oh, wait, I thought people voted for ‘Stephen Colbert’ (at least he got his name on a treadmill now).

The planet is being taken over by people that are Star Wars Fans. Everyone that isn’t a fan needs to run for the hills or risk being turned into a Fan!

Seriously it’s amazing how much Science Fiction is fast becoming plain old Science in both look and function.

This is insane! Just five minutes ago I saw this amazing picture of an old ancient robot head just like C3P0’s photographed (and recovered?) during one of the Apollo missions. It just can’t be a coincidence! Why does it have to go there?
