Ok…this is probably a very stupid question. I just happened to watch the start of Superman 2 on TV, and I couldn’t help but think that it is very much alike the Star Wars theme. Of course Williams has composed both of this themes, so a bit likeness should be expected, but come on!?
Am I the only one who finds them “too much” alike?

Numbers 1 and 2 in this poll are spot on, and I would probably argue that Goldsmith’s score from the first ST film should be moved up a notch, with Williams’ CE3K behind it and then Harriman’s score from “Day The Earh Stood Still.” The rest I’m not so sure even belong on this. I agree with the fellow who said Silvestri’s score from “Back to the Future” needs to be here. But where’s Williams’ soundtrack to the first “Superman” movie. Certainly that qualifies as science fiction! What about the score to George Pal’s “The Time Machine”? Anyone who says that score isn’t one of the best ever needs their head examined, as far as I’m concerned. And laugh if you must, but I’d give a nod to Craig Safan’s score to “The Last Starfighter” before even considering Transformers.

Some of this music is good, and Star Wars DEFINITELY deserves top spot, but these are really the top ten movie soundtracks ever? I don’t know…just off the top of my head, where’s Alan Silvestri’s Back to the Future score?

I would have to agree with Sompeetalay on this, the Star Wars Soundtrack is by far the best movie soundtrack around. I don’t think there is anyone who has not grown up to the famous John Williams Star wars music!

One thing I was surprised about however was that The Day The Earth Stood Still soundtrack beat out Transformers, very interesting, never would have guessed that:)

To be honest, it would have been a bit embarassing if we hadn’t ‘won’ from these movies. Some great movies though but the music in these movies can never top the music from SW.
