Fans Twitter Phantom Menace Line Memories

StarWars.com Team | May 19, 2009

Where did you stand in line 10 years ago today when The Phantom Menace hit theaters? Were you dressed as Yoda? Did you bring lightsabers to the show? Did you spend the night in line while proudly showing off your Star Wars pride with other loyal fans?

We asked fans on our Starwars.com Twitter where they were in line, and here’s what they had to say:

What are your memories of waiting in line for The Phantom Menace?

I spent 30 days in line. It was 30 of the best days of my teenage years. I was the first to line up in Utah…

It makes me wonder where the time has gone.

10 years already lol I couldn’t wait in line since I was in college and working part time. I did get a ticket for the midnight showing. Loved every moment of it.

  3. Took me 10 years, but I’m finally OK with Jar Jar. Congrats to The Phantom Menace on 10 years! Wow, that really was a great year of fandomonium and excitement! I wouldn’t trade it for the world. The Star Wars was everywhere!

Number 180 in line at the historic Senator Theatre. Photos and a little bit of reminiscing here: http://orangerful.livejournal.com/701308.html

I think I’m ready to give Phantom Menace another shot. Truthfully, the one and only time I saw it (maybe day 6 or 7 into it’s original release) I was kind of aghast. Didn’t seem to hold a candle to the original trilogy. Unfortunately these feelings were only deepened by Ep. II & III. So time has softened me, and I’m ready to check out Lucas’s vision with fresh eyes. Wish me luck. And Happy Birthday PM!

  6. I remember I had a half day and caught a matinee show of The Phantom Menace in Dublin. The film blew me away and transported me right back to that Galaxy Far, Far Away. Thanks you so very much for the precious memories!
