Death Star Approaching Azerbaijan?
February 27, 2008Skyscrapernews.com, which we can only assume to be one of the leading sites for skyscraper news, recently posted concept designs for “Hotel Full Moon,” a radical design that will accompany some already high-concept structures on the Caspian Sea.
Full Moon is essentially a disc with rounded edges and a hole in one of the top corners that appears radically different to the view depending on the angle it is seen from. The frontage thanks to the bulging centre makes it appear more like a glass death star whilst the side profile is more than a little gherkinesque.

It looks like Sydney recast with art nouveau, imperial technology, and Arthur C. Clarke stylings: a far cry from, but still on the same side of the universe as, the original world’s fair architecture.
Some conceptual drawings suggest solidity and 3D space, but, other than where the Death Star structure touches the lily pad structure, this looks like a well done piece of digital artwork.

That’s no moon, it’s a hotel!
This is genuis. All we need is a few X-wings or TIE fighters around it and it’ll be perfect. Never seen anything like it.

The one main weakness is this small exhaust port, only 2 meters wide. Wait…that’s the fire escape…
