Rotta the Hutt on Twitter Cam

Bonnie Burton | May 19, 2009

By now you probably either know about Twitter, or are twittering right this second. This weekend Digital Studio placed a big bluebird Twitter mascot over a cam on Hollywood Blvd., and asked people to reveal what they would be twittering at that moment.

Amongst the Twitter fans we were happy to spot The Clone Wars Rotta Back Buddy who made an appearance on the cam with Hot Topic model and Star Wars fan Amanda Jean, as well as Lucas Online’s very own Matt Martin!

Darth Maul BBQ (Sith) Sauce?

Bonnie Burton | May 14, 2009

If you’re a red-hot Sith like Darth Maul, it only makes sense to have a BBQ sauce named after you. Behold Maull BBQ sauce!

According to the web site:

Maull’s Genuine Barbecue Sauce was first created in St. Louis, Missouri over 70 years ago from Louis Maull’s original family recipe. It is still made exactly the same way today, by the Maull family, with the same unique blend of 20 select ingredients that gives Maull’s its distinctive tangy flavor.

I wonder if one of the ingredients is anger? Only Darth Maul knows for sure.

Britain’s Firefighting Stormtroopers?

Bonnie Burton | April 28, 2009

Britain’s firemen are being equipped with Star Wars-style headgear in an attempt to make their job safer. Not sure if this gear looks more like stormtrooper gear or THX 1138 helmets?

The new helmets are fitted with torches, cameras and radio links so that firefighters can use the latest technology to tackle blazes. They can resist temperatures of up to 1832F (1000C) and have gold-plated visors that can be pulled down for extra protection. Padded chin straps and soft foam on the inside ensure they are also more comfortable than ordinary firemen’s helmets.

Star Wars as Airwolf

Bonnie Burton | April 16, 2009

Can’t get enough Star Wars TV intro mashups? Good! Because here’s a couple more gems from the same fan who made Star Wars as Macgyver and Star Wars as Dallas.

This time around it’s Star Wars reimagined as the ’80s hit Airwolf. There’s two to choose from — one for Rebels and one for the Imperials. I have to say the theme song plus ship blueprints are spot on. Most impressive. We want more!

Star Wars as Macgyver

From the same fan who brought us Star Wars as Dallas comes another excellent TV intro mashup. This time it’s Macgyver! Will Luke blow up the Death Star using chewing gum and a drinking straw? We may never know.
