Utinni! Jawa Vegan Cookie Cupcakes!

Bonnie Burton | December 12, 2011

I love crafty fan JustJenn Designs and her tasty tributes to Star Wars! Using the new Williams-Sonoma Droids and Aliens Cookie Cutters, JustJenn Designs made these adorkable and delicious Jawa Vegan Cookie Cupcakes!

JustJenn writes:

The new Droids and Aliens cutters came out and I was drawn to the Jawas. I was always fascinated with how the hoods covered them entirely and how deeply inset their faces seemed to be – what exactly was behind those beady yellow eyes? I knew I wanted to capture that same idea when using the cookie cutters.

I was going to a Merry Sithmas party believe it or not, and one of the guests had a lot of food allergies. She is always left out when it came to desserts and seeing as how she LOVES Star Wars as much as I do, I decided to come up with a totally Vegan cookie and cupcake combo.

New Star Wars Snowflakes Craft!

Bonnie Burton | December 11, 2011

Remember that awesome dad who Photoshopped Ewoks into his family vacation photos so his kids could believe Ewoks were real? And then gave his daughter an adorkable Star Wars Disney Princesses birthday cake?

Well, now awesome dad, Anthony Herrera is back and he’s crafted some rather cool Star Wars Paper Snowflakes of Admiral Ackbar, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano and more!

Anthony writes:

When someone shared with me the Stars Wars snowflakes featured on Matters of Grey we were excited to make them. They turned out great, but we wanted to create more. The design seemed easy enough, so I got to work. There are so many rich characters in the Star Wars universe, the possibilities seem endless. I created a few designs based off of characters that I liked or thought would have a cool look as a snowflake. I recommend getting a very sharp X-acto knife for the inner details.

Darth Vader/The Great Dictator Speech Tribute

StarWars.com Team | December 7, 2011

Every once in awhile, a dedicated fan creates a video tribute to Star Wars that makes one pause and consider the full story of Darth Vader on a deeper level. The Star Wars Saga has always been about the story of Anakin Skywalker at its core. The films and The Clone Wars animated series show exactly that — the tale of a hero who lost his way and eventually found redemption.

This fan-made video tribute shows Anakin Skywalker’s final moments as he recalls the days of The Clone Wars in the arms of his son, Luke Skywalker. The video is narrated with Charlie Chaplin’s famous speech from The Great Dictator alongside clips from The Clone Wars.

This rousing speech, which was made famous from a film released during the early ’40s that bravely condemned Adolf Hitler, fascism, and the Nazis, works all too well juxtaposed against footage of the Emperor and the destruction he caused through the manipulation of the people during The Clone Wars.

Rare Empire Cast Interview Surfaces

Pete Vilmur | November 29, 2011

On the heels of the recent early Mark Hamill interview we discovered a couple weeks ago, StarWars.com contributor Bob Miller sends a heads up on another rare interview – or set of interviews – from a press junket surrounding the 1980 release of The Empire Strikes Back.

Recently posted from the archive of reporter Bobbie Wygant, this lost interview, which appears to have occurred at the 20th Century Fox Studios press event in early May, 1980, includes some rare conversations with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Dave Prowse, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, and director Irvin Kershner.

Some of the highlights include Hamill discussing his newborn son, Nathan, who he jokes might be available for the role of an “eight-year-old” Luke for the prequels (well, he got the age right, but was a generation off!). Another treat is the rare dual interview with Harrison Ford and Anthony Daniels, who we’ve rarely seen interviewed together. Dave Prowse also has some detailed information regarding the Darth Vader masks used on Star Wars and Empire, and how they are different (Vader historians take note!).

Most amusingly, though, interviewer Wygant closes with the tease that if Lucas continues with all nine chapters of his Star Wars saga, “the Force may be around until 2001!”

The Middle Actor Meets Darth Goofy

StarWars.com Team | November 29, 2011

Actor Atticus Shaffer, better known as “Brick Heck” from ABC’s comedy series The Middle, made a stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida today and giddily posed for a portrait with Darth Goofy in front of the new revamped Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction. According to Shaffer’s bio at ABC.com, the actor is a “huge fan of everything Star Wars,” and even showed up in his own Stormtrooper t-shirt!
