Darth Vader Joins Salvation Army

StarWars.com Team | November 30, 2009

It’s that time of year again where volunteers dress liked Santa and elves ring a bell outside busy shopping centers to raise money for the Salvation Army.

On Saturday, several volunteers dressed as Star Wars characters took their turn ringing bells at both Jefferson City Wal-mart.

“They figure if characters are willing to come out here dressed up, they’re putting a lot of extra effort into the charity,” said Chris Adams, with the Star Wars 501st Legion, who dressed as Darth Vader. “So they might donate just a little bit extra money than they normally would.”

This is the third year the Star Wars characters volunteered to help ring the bells. The money raised goes to help the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign.

Bonnie Burton | November 25, 2009

Looks like the Jedi and Sith are about to be outsourced. Just when you think IG-110 lightsaber droids were fiction, this happens…

Three Motoman robots from Yaskawa perform coordinated moves with lightsabers at Tokyo’s International Robot Exhibition on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.

Never Cross Jedi Cat!

StarWars.com Team | November 25, 2009

Beware mouse droids and feline-hating Sith — there’s a new Jedi master in town and he’s not interested in joining the dark side.

Here’s a Force-tastic fan-made video of a cat who has some rather impressive lightsaber skills. We’re especially delighted with the adorkable roll over lightsaber throw at the end.

Found on eBay: “Stupid Ewok”

Pete Vilmur | November 25, 2009

stupid ewok

Just in time for The Ewok Adventure‘s 25th anniversary, we found this amusing item description attached to a 1980s PVC figurine of an Ewok. Here’s part of the description:

I am ashamed to even list this thing. i should have thrown it into a pond, but we’re trying to ebay some stuff to get a coffee grinder. that’s what my life is now. I would rather trade my scifi dreams in for a decent cup of coffee than ever look at this little jerk’s mug again. Ewoks? Seriously? YOU BETCHA!

Hey, we know Ewoks aren’t for everyone, but maybe if the seller can earn a few bucks for his “officially…dead to me” little PVC, he’ll find the little fuzzballs aren’t so bad. Check out the auction here. Thanks to Andrew Boscardin for the heads-up!
